Our council - in Leamington also does a cash bonus if you trade down in house size so you may even end up with a nice surprise?Noli nothis permittere te terere

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/HomeAndCommunity/SocialHousingAndCareHomes/MovingHome/DG_10025972This may very well be the wrong forum, but I'll give it a try, and I apologise if I've gotten it wrong!
Myself, my partner and my daughter are currently living in a 3-bedroom housing trust property.
Due to troubles with our neighbours upstairs (on going unrelenting noise for 3 years), I, for the sake of my health and wellbeing, have to move properties.
Now, as we no longer jave a need for a 3-bedroom, I was pondering the chance of trading it in for, possibly, 1 2-bedroom and 1 1-bedroom. Because my daughter is 21 now and just graduated from uni - so a good time for her own place too.
Can anyone share some advice/experience with me? I'd very much appreciate any input! Thank you all very much for your help!

A lot of areas will pay you and/or moving costs to downsize..

I'd take your daughter with you though give her a year to save up a bit and the optin to do so otherwise it maybe one bed and she'll lose the option...0

i don't care for money to be honest, just waant away from this awful tenant above me.. i guess the quickest and easiest way wouuld be to downgrade the number of rooms...
Just wanted to know how willing and coperative councils and housing trusts are with these sort of things?
An awful lot of people have one kid so get a 2-bed place then another appears  and another and if different sex the council has problems finding 3-beds so I think very good chances... 0 and if different sex the council has problems finding 3-beds so I think very good chances... 0

That's exactly what I didn't want to hearTBH I wouldn't get your hopes up too much. If these new developments are of a decent size and location, there is likely to be a long waiting list, and you will not be a priority.
Definitely no harm in ringing and asking though x . .
While I am desperate to leave my current property, I do not want to be forced out by this neighbour above, into a crappy place.
I thought that because my property is in a very very ideal location and that it has 3-bedrooms (which is rare around here), I would be able to get a nice 2-bedroom..0

Your willingness to move to a smaller property will get you some points, but there may be others who currently have no home, or who need to be moved for medical reasons, and they will be given priority.
I do hope you get something sorted, I know how soul destroying a bad neighbour can be xGone ... or have I?0

But if anyone with high priority needs a 3 bed - their priority maybe sufficent to get you bumped up the list... phone up and say you're thinking of downsizing the cash for downsizing schemes exist because councils are desperate for larger properties...Your willingness to move to a smaller property will get you some points, but there may be others who currently have no home, or who need to be moved for medical reasons, and they will be given priority.

Not sure if this is correct? Maybe it varies from area to area? Here, if you mention you are looking to move from a 3 bed to a new build two bed, the council will bite your hand off in their haste! Spare 3 beds are as rare as hens teeth and if you are looking to downsize then they tend to care less about if the second bedroom of your new property will be used, rather that there is a 3 bed they can rehouse someone in.
 Good luck, OP.0

Thanks for your help guys. Mostly mixed responses, so I'm going to keep my fingers crosses, give my trust and the council a ring tomorrow and hopefully report back with some positive news!0

            Hi guys,
Just to update you, I came across this, which is my councils stance on the mattr. It appears they offer some brillliant schemes, matching exactly what I wanted.
However, upon calling them, they won't deal with me because I'm from a private housing trust...
Why is it complicated? I thought the private trusts and local councilsworked hand in hand with these sort of things?
 Thanks guys.0

Any advie guys? I can't see why swapping my property which is a private trust with a property within its council would be a big problem?
 Can anyone shed some light?0
