As Self employed working mum who always used to employ 8 or 9 staff, I used to offer term time hours, school hours etc as I would get great applicants who happened to have young kids. I could do this in our warehouse.
Shop staff tended to be students or F/T 20 somethings. Had more sickies, letdowns from the singletons than I ever had from the mums.
We no longer employ (which I love...the freedom) but spme of the new laws would now put me off...but from employing anyone from either gender..
Really difficult to accomodate in a small business....so now , for the time being, we are staying very small.0 -
Thats still kids to me , 20 is only a few months off being a teenager0

I reckon it had nothing to do with whether they were polish or not, its the current market place that'v got them jittery. Ever thought of reducing the price by £2K (if you can), It might bring your buyers back on board!

im applying for a job thats is basic pay... requires no qualifications except knowing office. My current job I had to do a 3 day interview but... I cant seem to get over the first hurdle on behalf of my partner for an admin job oO.
So your saying a degree education from writing 14,000 word dissertation and writing 200 page reports as part of your day job would not matter when compared to someone who finished school with 1 GCSE in art?0 -

I think you're absolutely right. Unless they are the worst kind of raving racists, chances are they've come up with a !!!!!!!! reason to call off the sale because they couldn't really afford it.
It's worth a punt and could kickstart the proceedings and save you money in the long run."carpe that diem"0 -

The question about are you allowed to work here and do you have the permits (you will be required to produce these) was on the application form. We have also had people come for jobs that barely speak english and have no papers that are sent away. The boss is a manager but the whole place is owned by a huge company, so I am guessing it's more than his job/freedom is worth to take them on. We do get area managers just turning up unannounced now and again, so maybe that's one of the things they are looking for.0 -
Polish arent a seperate race - they are white Europeans. The term you're looking for is "xenophobic".
In legal terms, "race" includes "nationality"...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
