thanks, ben500, I've modified the OP to correct the wording.

Thanks redfox for clarifying that - and would it be worth amending it on the mispricing thread itself as well? It might just save us from a 'discussion' happening on that subject in there!

    This too, shall pass.

Im looking at the grabbit board and there are 7 different threads with regard to Tesco. Wouldn't it just be much easier to have a sub board like Argos?

IMHO that would make your life much easier, as well as other users perhaps??

    Just a thought..........

that's not my decision to make, robin. It would be the MSE team, and ultimately Martin, who decides on what boards and sub-boards to have :)

Forgot to say besides the grabbit board on other boards we also have the extra points thread as well as the coupon policy discussion and on the vent board there's a discussion running about the treatment of customers etc......

How can we bring Martin's attention to the need of a Tesco sub board??

Where was it wrong on the right hand side?

If so it will be wrong/different as thats the price part of the code, and you knew the price was different.

and how did I know that the right hand side of the barcode was the price?

The issue with the salmon is quite an important point. They tried to argue with me that it was a different product, and eventually a manager was called. Although they swear blind it is a different product, they could not produce the correctly priced product when I asked them to. What a surprise!

I explained to the CS woman, the CS supervisor, and then the manager what Section 20 of the Consumer Protection Act is about, as none had a clue! But remember, a price indication does not have to actually be false (i.e. the bar code is different) if it is MISLEADING (i.e. the lower price is displayed in front of the item.) It would be impossible for them to claim that the salmon pricing was not misleading. Consequently I got my packs of salmon.

The only tactic is to remain very calm but firm, and each time you are refused your rights, require a more senior person to see you. Let the staff do the ranting, shouting and whinging. Remember you are in the right.

Take some things you bought out of fridge, look at bar code take off the last digit and write down the other last 3 digits.

Now compare that to the price.

This only works on packed pre priced items as far as I know, not on products that are weighed. Take a look at some you have and you will see what I mean.

...the only difference in the wording was the word Oak .

Tried exact same thing with me once, stood my ground, said that its obviously the same product, where is the one that matches this label (out of stock they say .... yeah do they think I'm stupid), do you have the complete to the word labels matching the product, no, you don't have space to, you abbreviate it to the space available. Said it was the old label then, blah blah blah, unfortunately, girl brought a new label to the counter for the product priced correctly, and the description matched the old label description. TUT TUT TUT, i says, stop wasting my time, embrassed by being caught out the manager then approved refund and went off grumpily.

It is this type of thing that really gets my gander up, average Joe Public would have decapitated under the CS and Manager pressure.
