Help faulty mobile phone (merged)
Sorry if this is in the wrong place
I bought my son a mobile phone from currys on the 5th december(bought early for christmas) as it came with a £10 top up they had to register it on that date
My son opened it christmas day and within a couple of weeks it went wrong we went back to currys and they said as its over the 28 days it needs to be repaired we tried to argue that it wasnt used until 25th december but they said only a repair
Anyway since then my sons phone has been repaired 4 times
Two weeks ago we rang up to complain about the amount of repairs and he said he would give me a replacement phone but it came back this morning repaired again
I rang them up saying i should have had a new phone and another person said they dont do anything until after 5 repairs but if they cant repair it after 5 repairs then they will give a replacement
My son has hardly used his phone since christmas because it goes wrong then we have to ring to book it in wait a week for a prepaid envelope we pay recoreded delivery then we have to wait 2 weeks plus for repair
One time he didnt have it for a month because they mixed up job reference number so was sent back without a repair so we had to pay to send it off again
I am getting rather fed with it i bought my son a 2gb memory card as an extra present to go with it and its hardly been used
What can i do?
Is it worth going back to currys im at a loss surely they cant do this as the phone is less than 6 months old
Has anybody got any advice for me please

Sorry it is no advice. But i had the same problem with phones 4 u. Except it took them 2 months, its such a pain. I hope you get it sorted. Alls i can think of is if you contact the phone company by the website e.g. nokia etc x0

Cant you go direct to the manufacturer, I know if you go to nokia direct they repair free as long as under year and send back like new. They also have freepost address for you to send it to which is nice of them.:T Smilings good for you, it releases happy endorphines in your brain and makes your boobs grow bigger :T

Hi Thanks
I have had it repaired 4 times now and it works for 1 week at the most then we have the trouble of ringing up booking it in waiting for an envelope then wait 2 weeks plus for a repair
A new phone shouldnt be like this we have all got mobiles and this is the only one we have trouble with my son has had to use his old phone because of all this trouble and his never had any problems with it
a replacement or refund is really what i want because i think i have been patient enough
Thanks anyway
I have e mailed sony ericsson so perhaps they will be able to suggest anything0 -

there is a number somewhere for SE and they give you an address to send faulty phones too. maybe they will just send you a new one if you do that and explain its been fixed so many times.:T Smilings good for you, it releases happy endorphines in your brain and makes your boobs grow bigger :T

I would go back to Currys and tell them you want a replacement as they should do this for you as long as its within 6 months of purchase. They are within there rights on the 28 day front but have not heard that you only get a replacement after 5 repairs ? I would take it back to the shop, ask to speak to a manager and demand a replacement.0

thanks
i will wait and see what they say in reply to my e mail then im thinking of contacting c.a.b because this really cant be right for a 6 month old phone
It really has annoyed me we have 4 children and we saved hard to give them what they wanted for christmas and my poor son hasnt really used it
there used to be a time where if something was under 12 months old you would get a refund/replacement straight away now it seems its a repair unless you have took out cover with the phone( i didnt because we have never had any problems with any other mobile we have had and i expected a new phone to last)
I really dont think they are repairing it properly because after the 3rd repair we turned it on put all the stuff back in left it on for an hour screen went blank and then wouldnt work so we had to send it back0 -
thankyou
I was thinking of going back to the shop but im a bit worried
What can i do if they dont issue a replacement do i stand my ground until they do or walk away without resolving anything0 -
Well Good Luck with it. Ive never had a problem with a sony ericsson, always seem to be good solid phones, but apparently not if yours has gone so wrong.:T Smilings good for you, it releases happy endorphines in your brain and makes your boobs grow bigger :T
