Ebay: theft on a massive scale !!!

at the end of the day the buyer pays for postage costs, so send your items recorded mail, if you are honest and ask the correct postage and packaging costs then you have nothing to worry about as your postage costs will be less than other sellers selling the same items as i would say 95% of sellers over charge on postage.
Not entirely. Say I want to buy a T shirt and have £7 to spend, you and your competitor have that T shirt up at £5, but you are charging £2.72 for postage against £2 charged by the other seller, then you have just priced yourself out of the market by being 72p dearer than someone else.
Looking at it a different way, I still want my t shirt and still have £7 to spend, so all I would bid on your would be £4.28 as I would take into account your postage costs, I would bid up to £5 on someone else only charging me £2 postage.
However, as I stated previously it is in my best interest to encourage all other sellers to use recorded as that makes my items the better bargain and gets me more sales..so ignore all the above and please make your auctions 72 p dearer than mine.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Then you need to get the post office to investigate as you may have problems with a new postman not knowing the round, or maybe even a wild cat strike in the local sorting office.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Taking into account my recent experience I'd pay a bit extra for the peace of mind recorded delivery would bring.0 -
Sorry but I’m having to cut and paste this from WORD as I can’t post anything otherwise on MSE.crank_girl wrote: »Taking into account my recent experience I'd pay a bit extra for the peace of mind recorded delivery would bring.
Recorded delivery gives a buyer no protection at all, what if item fails to arrive, what if seller doesn’t even send the goods or just pockets the 72p. How then does it make any difference to you? Recorded is just standard mail, it isn’t treated any differently it just sometimes gets a signature on arrival..but any signature will do.
In fact recorded is actually a disadvantage to a buyer as once a parcel shows as delivered they can’t win a chargeback, even if that parcel has since mysteriously disappeared or the signature is not recognised.
The only person that benefits from recorded is a seller who can win a chargeback by showing delivery to a confirmed paypal address.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Sellers with Unpaid Items are still eligible for Final Value Fee credits. Also, if the item is relisted and sells the second time, eBay will refund the Insertion Fee for the relisting.
The seller could offer the item to the the next highest bidder as a second chance offer possibly resulting in a better price achieved than if the non-paying bidder had not bid
I do agree with you, but it does increase the risk of loosing out. Who's to say you will sell it the 2nd time around or get a 2nd chance offer accepted. Plus the time wasted relisting. Although I do agree with you I suspect there will be an increase in buyers pulling out of deals.

Since the new effects have come in, 3 out of 10 items havn't arrived, then buyers accuse me of theft when I send them a message asking when approximatly they sent the item in case it was merely delayed, and checking my local sorting office
2 sellers just refunded, in a claim for the 3rd ¬¬
Have also contacted postal office, no new postie, just the neighbourhood postie who is 3 doors down (so its not like he doesn't know me - our one cat loves teasing his dogs!), its odd

I've given up selling on Ebay too. Im not a business seller, i just sell my old stuff for a bit of extra cash, but with Ebay fees, Paypal fees and this ridiculous new system, it's barely worth my while.
It's a pity someone wouldn't send ebay this thread, although i doubt they'd care....Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

There are thousands of threads just like this all over the internet, including hundreds on the ebay boards themselves.
Currently they are not interested, and will remain that way until the quarterly numbers start to fall, but given that eBay have diversified into huge corporate deals (buy.com, General Motors), it's unlikely a few thousand, or even a few hundred thousand sellers leaving the site will make any difference to them.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Not strictly true. I have a dodgy buyer that has had my feedback removed as i said they were unreasonable . Now they are claiming for goods not as described and do you think paypal will support the 100% positive seller or the 92% buyer?!Greensprout wrote: »If you follow the rules and send via trackable means you won't have this problem

You must have misread my post... as i said in my post, most sellers over charge on postage, so even with the extra for recorded i am 95% of the time still charging less for postage than other sellers selling similar items.
I wouldn't be losing out on any money, if thats the price i want for my item then thats what im going to sell it for. It is very rarely that an item i list doesn't sell and i list quite alot.0
