So hey. Don't get me wrong i'd love to meet "The One". Have i missed my chance?
Anyways i kinda guess you have a very good goal to aim for. Mine is kind of similar. I just want to get my self straight so when the time comes i have the money behind me (hopefully).
You most definitely have not missed your chance!! The right woman will come along when you least expect it. And remember when she does, it will be you she is interested in and not your money. When OH and I met 6 years ago we could barely afford the £450 rent on our first flat but the happiness was worth it. I was supporting him more than him me, but now it is the other way around.
You have a very manageable debt and with some careful planning and budgeting you will reach your goal. Just make sure you set yourself a treat so it is worth it

You never know, you might meet the girl of your dreams on herethen at least she would understand your debt problems and try to help

I have never met a more friendly and welcoming group of people than all you guys on here so far. It's absolutely marvelous. I love it.
Jenjade - I really hope we both haven't missed out. Nothing i want more than a family.
Wesker - It would be marvelous to meet some-one who is more money minded than i am right now.
Right then time to get to work on my SOA i think.0 -

We are all in the same boat on here, in debt, be it large or small, so no-one is going to judge one anotherexcept the occasional troll and they soon get dealt with
I find it helps to have to goal for when you are debt free. ie: if you are paying £xxx towards your debts each month just think what that money could go towards once your debts are paid.
I am paying nearly £500 a month on 2 loans at the moment. When they are finished in just over 2 years i can save that £500 and pay it off my mortgage and have my mortgage paid off well before i retire
Btw i am also a smoker and i know how hard it is  I do get my cigs cheaper than shop price tho so am still saving money but really must try to give it :cool:Errrr...come back later0 -
I think this is right
INCOME
Wages : £1088.00 (this varies from week to week depending on my hours)
OUTGOINGS
Rent : £200.00 To my sister where i am currently staying.
: £180.00 To mine and my bros account as we are saving to rent a house together.
Catalouge : £140.00
Pension : £23.87
Food : £100.00 (Though I have managed to get it lower by shopping online)
Account Fee : £11.50
Orange : £52:00 (My contract is for £25.00 but always go over)
Barclays Loans : £57.86 (two loans not sure on apr and how much left at the moment)
My Weekly Money ; £180
Income £1088.00
Outgoings £765.53
Surplas +£142.47
All that money i have left always tends to end up going on fags, about £40-£50 a week. Which is one of the things i really need to give up. I give myself £45 a week to live on. Even though I know i can do it on £10 but thats without no beer at the weekend and no going to the pub.0 -
Have you missed your chance to meet "the one"? Absolutely not! OH met whilst in debt and infact we're still in debt and it'll take a while to be debt free... but as Martin says: Debt isn't bad, bad debt is bad.
I was the one to turn round OHs spending habits and our debts are reducing and with a little effort we have a better lifestyle now than we did when we were single... As the name might suggest we're now married (sorry Numpty!) and have been for a whole 10 days
We met on an internet dating site so it IS possible to find cyber love
Obviously you need to address the debt but don't let it rule your life!
Smoking... you know you have to quitBut have you contacted the NHS stop smoking service for help?

What does the account fee give you? Is it worth paying.

MrsTine - I find that i can normally quit myself for a while but when i go to the pub i start again because of the relaxed atmospehre and stuff. I can normally go for a week without a fag again after but this time i spose i'm kinda stressed by poor money management and women.:rotfl:(and no i don't mean all women by that just this one):D0 -
Hiya,
You probably wont want to hear this but at the age of 23 I gave up smoking and I knew that if I went near a pub again I would start again, so I avoided pubs and alcohol for the next 3 years until I trusted myself to stay off them.
What about thinking of the potential gf situation in this? Smoking is likely to put a non smoking potential partner off quite a bit and as an ex smoker I would never ever date a smoker as I wouldnt trust myself to stay off the nicotine and as a smoker I didnt like dating other smokers when I was going through the several I need to give up smoking phases I went through. Does that make sense?
Oh and your SOA.
You need to sort out your mobile!! Are you tied into a contract or has that lapsed? If you cant cut down on the calls/texts, then would it help to increase your tarrif to say 30 pounds but pay less as you are within your allowances?
£180 is a lot of pocket money! Where does that all go? Do you keep a record of it? Instead of going to the pub all the time could you try some cheaper evenings? Going to the cinema perhaps or staying in at someones house and buying some cans?Debt Free - done
Mortgage Free - done
