Hello to every-one.
I am a 28yr old male who has been hanging around this website/forum for a week or so now reading some of the threads on here. I almost feel a bit of a fraud by posting on here actually as my debts arn't anywhere as bad as some of yours. Yet i know to have a happy life i need to get myself sorted out.
I am living in my overdraft each and every week. I am literrally at the bottom of my overdraft. I keep doing my MONEY program to try and keep me on track and i just keep loosing it. If i stick to my budget that i have given myself on MS MONEY then i will be overdraft debt free by september.
The only problem is i find it so hard to do so. Especially the giving up smoking part which i know is my main killer. To be "Debt" free i have to give up smoking. Yet i find i can go a week or two without fags then end up smking again after a day in the pub.
I am literally kicking myself and feeling such a prat for having what i call such a small debt yet it is really starting to get me down. I don't feel i can a have a relationship with a woman yet due to my debts and i cannot have a happy typicall life of a 28yr old single lad neither.
Oh what a rant.

Hi there,
Debt is debt no matter what the amount of it, i know what you mean though, i feel bad moaning about my relatively small debt when there are others much worse off but if it is affecting your life then it is just as valid a problem than if you owed a million pounds.
I started my own challenge 'moneymabels debt free by 2009 challenge ' to give me a kick to pay off the debt by the end of this year, you will be welcome to join if u wanna!!
good luck with the giving up smoking, i know how hard it is (been there done that  ) but it is possible-you can do it!!0 -
Hey Death - A - Lot
Wish I was 28 again ? I will swap you your Overdraft for My age!!
Makes you realise you should be out enjoying life (carefully of course)
But at 28, Male and Single!! Worrying about a Overdraft would be the last thing on my mind..
When you eventually get Married, have Kids, Buy a house, then the worry really begins!!
Enjoy!!0 -
:hello: Hi DAL
my debt is small to in comparrison to others, but big to me
it is a debt that stops me living the life of a single 30 something male:eek:
I can't give up the smokes but i have gone onto rollups, and made a hell of a saving, I used to spend over £40 per week on cigs
A baccy tin and rolling thing (£10 at argos) made that money back in under a week
,papers, filters and baccy(if you are or know someone going abroad:whistle: ) nothing illegal though
rough average is now less than£20 per week spent on smoking
But they do take a bit of practice:o
As smashedbooboo has said there is a giving up smoking thread

and you are not a fraud

Thanks to every-one for the friendly welcome. And i want to make sure i'm straight for when i do (hopefully) start a relationship that leads to a family.
I was going to do an SOA on sunday (yesterday) but things happened saturday that put me in a weird frame of mind all day. So i didn't do it. Today was a realisation that i need to give myself a kick up the bum.
Does any-one have any tips to keep ypu focused on your goals?0 -

Hi DAL and welcome
Everyone on this board is so friendly and helpful. You are most definitely not on your own. You'll find quite a few DFW have an end of goal treat (in your case Sep 2008?) that spurs them on. Personally, mine is my wedding, but others plan a holiday to celebrate. You could always have a lads holiday somewhere hot and meet the love of your life

Ps, I met mine in Spain. It does happen0 -
Hi DAL,
Welcome to this amazing forum packed with amazing folks - I've sure learnt some serious stuff from these guys - they are so good and supportive.
Now the smoking bit - yep, I'm an ex smoker, gave up over 8 months ago now, but ironically I work in the Cardiology Dept at my local hospital!. Shame on me but I managed to quit - I'd like to wish you loads of luck, I can even run up the stairs now instead of panting and puffing after 5 steps!.Opinions are like bottom holes, we all have one

So hey. Don't get me wrong i'd love to meet "The One". Have i missed my chance?
Anyways i kinda guess you have a very good goal to aim for. Mine is kind of similar. I just want to get my self straight so when the time comes i have the money behind me (hopefully).0
