Speeding ticket on Pool car - advice please

We had a similar siuation a few years ago at our work. A speeding ticket came, we all frowned and knew who it was who was driving. But as we had no record, we told the ticketing office we didnt know and got off with it, but got a warning which stated that we now have to make sure that a fully up to date log is kept of who, when, where and times.0

I phoned the local police in the end and they gave me a phone number. After speaking to a really grumpy bloke, he agreed to send through a photo as he said it is a face-on clear one.
Lets just hope OH is off the hook!!
Wonder what the outcome was...............0 -
i could be mistaken but i thought it was illegal to take a face on picture?? is it possible to catch someone speeding coming towards the camera???0

I thought that - I'm sure there was a landmark case a few years back where a guy took the authorities to the court of human rights for infringement if privacy. He'd been snapped face-on with his mistress in the car and his wife had somehow seen the photos...0 -
I'm afraid human rights don't apply in speeding cases. Last year, Messrs Francis & O'Halloran took the UK Government all the way to the European Court of Human Rights, arguing that being compelled to nominate yourself as the driver (and therefore giving the CPS one part of the evidence they need to convict you) under threat of criminal penalty, is a violation of the basic human right of non self-incrimination. Not even accused murderers or rapists are forced to incriminate themselves, the prosecution has to find the evidence and prove them guilty. However, after behind-the-scenes pressure from our esteemed government, the ECtHR found against the appellants.crank_girl wrote: »I thought that - I'm sure there was a landmark case a few years back where a guy took the authorities to the court of human rights for infringement if privacy. It is quite common for cameras to show faces in pictures, all Truvelo fixed cameras do it, and so does the LTi 20:20 used in mobile vans if filming cars travelling towards the camera - in fact they deliberately focus on the faces, in case there is any dispute about who was driving.
So if you're off to the local lovers' lane for a quick lunchtime legover with your secretary, be doubly vigilant about speeding, or you could be in big trouble!

Hi everyone.
An update for you.
Got the photo from the police and it wasn't OH!!:j
The photo was really clear so we know who it was.
Thanks for your help.;)0 -
Excellent! It annoys me when I hear stories like these as it seems as though the authorities are more concerned with getting some money and not really interested in finding out who really was to blame. If they were really interested in punishing the correct person, rather than increasing their revenue, they wouldn't have put up so much resistance in supplying the photograph. So much for their claim that their cameras are there for safety reasons.0
