Why wont Halifax freeze interest on my CC?

hi guys
first time poster
just wondering what the best address is to send letters to HBOS i've sent 4 in the last few weeks all have been signed for but i'm yet to recieve a reply from either card services or retail bank collections
i have been on a fixed payment arrangement and they asked me for a updated budget sheet to see if i could increase my payments then they don't bother to reply
then i get my statement through and all interest and charges have been readded  and to top it off i get the automated call today from 0845 3550041 saying i need to pay my cc arrears in 14 days or else
i think getting in touch with the FOS is the only way now0 -
Oooh that sounds so familiar!
I think that you need to get in touch with the FOS. Fill in the form, send copies of all letters you send and receive and keep a note of the days they call you on.
I was ignored for months until I actually got the FOS involved.
Good luck and keep us posted!0 -
thanks for reply
i've sent another letter to the halifax which i'm fully expecting to be ignored
i've also filled in the complaint form from the FOS and sent it off with all the relevant documents now it's just a case of wait and see :rolleyes:0 -
You will probably be surprise at how quickly you get a reply once the FOS have put their size 10's up their backsides!
Just a warning though, the FOS are very busy - probably with all of the complaints from lovely people like us! - so it might take a couple of week.
Keep your chin up - you will get there in the end - and don't take any crap from HBOS (they will keep trying it on hoping you will just accept what they are saying) and every bit of correspondence you get send to the FOS for your file.
Let us know how you get on - have got my fingers crossed for you!0 -
well now i'm getting hassled every hour from 08453550041[FONT="] which is a stupid automated system claiming to be from the halifax

That's the one that when you try and call it back it says that someone tried to call you but you can't speak to anyone isn't it?
Calls every hour would be classed as harrassment. Are you with a company such as Payplan or CCCS? If you are then contact them as they can look into it for you. If not try National Debt Line (details on the internet), they are a government funded organisation and are very good at giving advice.
Let us know how you get on.0 -
Hi Guys
Just bumbling around and found this regarding harrassment from DCAs (would probably apply to some of the firms we are dealing with too!)
http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/consumer_credit/oft664.pdf
Makes for interesting reading and gives us a bit of ammunition 'cos let's be honest most of the monkeys they have working for them know nothing (other than trying scare tactics!). :rotfl:0 -
well after involving the FOS im not being ignored anymore i received a response pretty quickly from the halifax apologising
all the phone calls have stopped and they have accepted my offer of payment to be reviewed in 3 months
however they refuse to refreeze the interest and stop charges as i've already been on a long term fixed arrangement plan
permanent suspension of interest and charges can be applied in 6 months time  after the registration of the default notice0 -
Glad you have at least had a response - isn't it amazing how once they get an FOS boot up the rear they suddenly write you a letter.
As annoying and tiring as it can be you need to keep pushing them with letters saying that while you accept their current offer it doesn't go far enough (copy the FOS in as well as they will then get back in touch with HBOS). If you need any templates let me know - I've got loads!!
Good luck

Just had an interesting (and angry) call with a representative of the AA Credit Card and I'm still shaking. He was phoning as he was having trouble putting into words their policy....
Well, I've just got off the phone and after being told (like always in their letters) that their policy is for any debt 7 months in arrears is passed onto a DCA so when I mentioned that this didn't add up as my first arrears letter was in November 2007, I have just been given the bombshell that their system doesn't recognise arrears until at LEAST the THIRD month and basically that I will be paying interest for a year and a half before it is passed over!!!
I told him that I didn't care how much he was struggling to put this policy into words, I wanted a letter detailing this information and that I was sending it straight to the FOS as it was totally unfair.
I am almost in tears here. I want to pay off my debt and decided against as IVA and all I am getting from these people is crap.
Anyway, just wanted to let you all know.0
