I have just been in cheap bookshop "The Works", which still appears to be having the same closing down sale (hmmmm...) that's been going on for a good five or six years now.
The lying about closing aside, they have LOADS of great bits and pieces for kids stocking fillers - craft kits, books, pens, pencils, paints, plasticine etc that will keep them busy well into the new year!
For anyone arty (older kids, partners, friends), they have tons of art supplies (pastels, paints, brushes, watercolours, oils, acrylics, pallettes, etc), easels and really cheap blank canvases. I've bought loads today!

Free delivery on orders over £25, but don't know what the service is like.
It's worth popping into your closest branch to pick things up!0 -
The Book People have some fantastic savings on popular HB's and PB's. From an in-work box, I just got Food Medicine for £4, RRP £14.99, cheapest price online about £10 :j You can also order direct from them and you have more choice, but don't know how much delivery would be."There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children; one of these is roots, the other wings" - Hodding Carter

Not a stocking filler - but as pressies get smaller and smaller - I have always put small presents wrapped in other boxes which are in turn wrapped themselves - It keeps the suprise aspect of Christmas as a dvd or game etc wrapped on its own is a really obvious present. Its also great fun watching my family try to figure out what the HELL is in each present. It also helps pad out the Christmas tree a bit and gives them twice the amount of unwrapping to do
My family are all 22 plus by the wayAs stocking fillers I tend to get my brothers a jokey thing - like an a ction figure they used to play with as a kid etc and the rest is usually just a number of sweets, an orange and various freebies I collect along the way - courtesy of MSE of course

Some ideas;
Cards, either top trump type things or normal cards and a book on how to learn poker or similar
Dinky cars of the super-doper ones they want in real life!! they can look on with glee and save for it?? (maybe)
pants and socks
small bits and pieces for hobbies they have, ie into art some tubes of paint/ pencils /paper
into sport - balls or posters of famous people they like (or other bits relevant to their sport)
little pictures that can be put up on the wall (Ikea??!)
In fact Ikea for all sorts of trinkets
Depending on the age of boy - tools. Buy a good qualtiy toolbox and start building up the collection!!!! Screws and nuts etc to go inside!! It could be a year on year thing, as the better qualtiy are often more expensive but last for more years? (maybe....)0 -
I am making a friend a DIY chav kit, with a pair of versace socks and a vicky pollard mug, both from poundland. Lots of my kids' stocking fillers come from Boots and Sainsburys in the reduced to clear section. My kids like nuts so I am going to be a bit old fashioned and give them nuts and satsumas this year too - just like nanna used to have. I am planniing to make them either a personalised t shirt or a pillowcase using a computer printed transfer (homemade) Also I am getting some canvases from poundland and turning their wacky drawings into works of art by transferring them on to canvas. If you have to stay in a hotel pick up the shower gel/soap/shampoo, my daughter loves them;) I am adding a few free pens and keyrings I picked up from meetings and conferences throughout the year, may as well get some reward for being bored off your *ss!
I will write them a few 'promise' vouchers too, like a trip to the cinema, a meal out, train ride etc.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
I have done reading too!
