£10 for stocking fillers? Not being funny, but is that in total? I refuse to spend more than £1 per item on stocking fillers, otherwise they end up costing a fortune! I have two teenage daughters and they are always thrilled with their stockings.....honest! Some examples from last year....those large Quality Street individual chocolates, 39p each, small bottles of bubble bath from Superdrug 99p each, packs (about 4 pairs) of kneehighs from Poundstretcher/Instore 99p per pack (for under trousers), large bottles of sensual bubble bath from Boots (bogof, as well!) 99p, bought a couple of packs of really pretty socks from Bewise and put two pairs in each stocking, small hardback notebooks dirt cheap but pretty, from I can't remember where, assorted hair pins and scrunchies, bits and bobs from the aforementioned Hawkins Bazaar....oh, blimey, loads of stuff....if only I could remember it all! Oh yes, those small boxes of 4 Fererro Rocher for 99p each. Those big punch ball balloons with handles...very cheap and I am not ashamed nor embarrassed to make it known that we are quite immature sometimes and love bashing each other with them! Oh yes....we love whoopee cushions too.:snow_grin"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow........":snow_grin0

Sigh - teenage girls are so much easier to get bargain bits for - any ideas for teenage lads would be much appreciated (my brain has seized up - I always seem to get the same: smellies, underwear, stationery - hard to find fun things that don't break the bank!)
Oh, and may I be the first to wish everyone a Very Happy Christmas?[0 -
Not so much stocking fillers, more good pressies in there own right, but in Morrisons today I noticed they have brought out their 'own brand' of traditional games.Includes versions of Connect 4, Operation, Jenga and Battleships.
Normally £3.99 each, there is an offer on where you buy 2 for £6.
Would be good to wrap up for Christmas or for presents for birthday parties.0 -

Thank you for your seasonal greetings, Bennifred!
I have to admit that I would be totally stumped if I had to buy presents for boys....we just don't have any in our family.
I recall that when my girls were younger I would look through the Argos and Index catalogues and be glad that I could choose things from the pink fluffy sparkly pages. The boys pages were always full of (to me) ghastly things like monster trucks and robot type things all in black and other depressing colours!
Ho hum. Ho ho ho!:snow_grin"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow........":snow_grin0 -
last year i found poundland quite good (if you reject the tat) i find my 14 year old son to be the worst to find things to fill the stockings, the younger two are relatively easy. last year made me laugh, santa had left toothbrushes in there stockings with a reminder from the toothfairy that 'clean teath are worth more!!' kids were really good about cleaning teeth from then on!!life is what you make it. . . a bit like playdough. just don't squeeze it to hard!0

I haven't had time to read all of this thread yet, but today in Bristol Book Sale have an 'Everything must go' sale sign up, don't know if they are closing, could well be because of the Broadmead redevelopment. But anyway, they have lots of stuff in baskets for under 50p, under £1, under £2. Also books, paper and hardback, and videos, DVDs and music. Oh, and Star Trek books for 75p, which might help with older boys. Nothing will be 'the latest' but I think there is something for everyone in there!
I got some nice puzzles for 3-6 year olds, and mini desk-top punch-bags and tops for stocking fillers. Lots of similar stuff.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi everyone. New poster here :T
I've got four teenage boys and they still love to get their stockings! They always get a new toothbrush, toothpaste (to wash away the choccie that's always in there too LOL), a single serving box of cereal or breakfast-type drink (too excited to eat breakfast otherwise) a piece of fruit, and generally things that I would need to buy them anyway - things for school (pens, pencils, erasers, etc), a note pad to write those thank yous after Christmas, dice for game playing, new hair combs . . .
There is usually one or two cheap little plasticy things, but I'm cutting them out this year.If there is to be any peace, it will come through being, not having - Henry MillerM.A.C.A.W Member . . Wannabe Flybaby0 -
slinks wrote:definitely recommend http://www.makemeasong.co.uk/ after finding the site via moneysavingexpert! thought it was definitely worth a tenner donation but now there are set prices which is even better:
Bobson's Gold Selection - £6.50 (Your song will be ready within 48 hours)
Bobson's Silver Selection - £4.00 (Your song will be ready within 4 days)
Bobson's Bronze Selection - £1.50 (Your song will be ready within 2 weeks)
fantastic prezzie!!!
I love this idea - listened to some of the songs - they are hilarious!! What do you actually do? Just write about the person, with loads of information and then he comes up with a song, or do you actually have to write the song and then he records it?
I could have so much fun with this!!0 -
