Help!! Currys wont refund faulty good
Comments
-
It's actually 6 months and applies to all goods purchased.
It's called the reversed burden of proof. However the retailer is allowed to have the item inspected and if they can prove the fault was not there at the time of purchase (usually difficult to do) then it doesn't apply.
See question 13 at bottom of this link

In this case, the issue appears to be that the filter now has dust in it which I would guess, on the balance of probability, was not present when produced. My question would be though that isn't the filter there to prevent dust egress, so unless it was so severely blocked by lack of maintenance, should not be causing a problem with the motor. Some dust on the filter should be expected shouldn't it?
Hi

Have to say some of the advice in that link is dubious.0 -
The dixons retail group is top of my list entitled "do not touch with a barge pole".
The people who work there are numpties only interested in selling a useless extended warranty, and dont have a clue about the items they sell.
I only go in those shops to look at an item, then go online and buy it cheaper.
I always like it when a sales assistant asks if I need any help and I usually ask them loads of technical questions about the product, then listen to the rubbish they spout and then correct everything they say as I will have researched the item beforehand.
I know this does not help the OP but it might help someone else avoid buying from these cowboys.0 -

Not impressed at all. Also cant find receipt. I too wash the filters but it had begun to wiff a bit of burning.... just like the first post, and its always had a wurring sound.
I believe that legally the shop is not required to provide you with a receipt so you are not legally required to provide them one if you take your goods back. Do you have another way of showing that you bought the item there, say a bank statement or credit card statement?Fiscal drag, that's my problem. Too many people dragging on my fiscals.0 -
RESULT!!! e-mailed head office yesterday to say how disgusted i was and what had happened, also said i wanted a full refund and in future wouldn't buy from them again.
Today i got a phone call from the store where i bought the hoover, apologizing saying the situation was wrongly dealt with, the manager who was dealing with me was unprofessional and their going to be looking into it further, also im getting petrol money off them as well as a full refund! YAYYYYYYYY i told the guy on the phone "really your guys should be clued up on the SOGA", he was so apologetic and couldn't say sorry enough.
So lesson to be learned here is A. don't buy from them because they can't honor the 12 month guarantee and B. if a problem does arise email Dixons store group plc ASAP Thanks guys for the help, hope my experience can help others :j:j:j:j:T:T:T:T:T:TBaby number 2 due April 2010, were having a girl!!! :j0 -

Went in today to be told "who said you could get a refund?" back to square one i thought, it was the same idiot "manager" who had dealt with us previously, i said head office notified me to come and get a full refund no questions asked, he said "well no thats not true its up to the store whether or not they refund, and because on this occasion somebody has said you can then we will have to do it for you"
Its like hauling teeth out! i was then told that "the filter is broke and see it as a good will credit" i was livid, i was then told i wasn't welcome back into their store, i said don't worry i wouldn't tell anyone to come here, some guy was looking at something and i said "i would save yourself the hassle!" he just looked and thought "she's probably right"
Anyway now its all done and dusted i certainly wouldn't advise anyone to buy anything from them, they don't have a clue about anything, SOGA seemed to go in one ear and out the other, if they can put a spanner in the works to prevent a refund etc they will!Baby number 2 due April 2010, were having a girl!!! :j0 -
I'd put in a formal complaint about that manager if I was you. What a pillock!Illegitimi non carborundum.0
