Help!! Currys wont refund faulty good
Comments

Mummyof1 - its not big or clever to be sexist, however you're right in that the goods are inherently faulty and you are entitled to a replacement, repair or refund under the Sales of Goods Act.
If you put your case in writing you're almost certainly better off than having conversations with them at the store.0 -
Next door neighbour is ranting about curry`s at the moment. She bought a surround sound system from them 2weeks ago and the speakers won`t work, plus it keeps freezing. She`s getting no joy from them telling her to ring some one else up cos of the warranty.Anyway she`s going to get in touch with trading standards to see exactly were she stands before she goes back to kick up a fuss.0

If you paid by Credit Card, then give them a call to complain too.

Yeah it was paid by credit card, in future i'll just save myself the hassle and not shop there, my mum had hassle with her satnav, came back with all her maps deleted etc and was filthy, so she complained and they said they would send it off again, my mum said i don't think so, the thing was filthy and it was still broke so she ended up with a higher model free of charge.. not badBaby number 2 due April 2010, were having a girl!!! :j0

My hoover went pop last night.... little blue thing, bought it in Sept last year. Only bought it because just had new wooden floor fitted... so never been used on carpets. Not impressed at all. Also cant find receipt. I too wash the filters but it had begun to wiff a bit of burning.... just like the first post, and its always had a wurring sound.0

i would like to draw everyones attention to the sales of goods act 1979 which states that any fault in the first 3 months of any plug in eletrical item, it is assumed that the fault was there at the start when you bought it and you are entitled to a full refund or replacement. any reporting of the fault to the manufacturer is the responsibility of the company you bought it from, not you.
good luck!
You got a link for that? Never heard of that bit myself.0 -
I had a problem with them a couple of years ago and will never use them again for any purchase over about a tenner.Illegitimi non carborundum.0

It's called the reversed burden of proof. However the retailer is allowed to have the item inspected and if they can prove the fault was not there at the time of purchase (usually difficult to do) then it doesn't apply.

In this case, the issue appears to be that the filter now has dust in it which I would guess, on the balance of probability, was not present when produced. My question would be though that isn't the filter there to prevent dust egress, so unless it was so severely blocked by lack of maintenance, should not be causing a problem with the motor. Some dust on the filter should be expected shouldn't it?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
You paid by credit card. Section 75 Consumer Credit Act 1974 claim against card provider. They will settle very quickly.0
