I've started getting some bits, but really ought to get some sort of plan in place for who/what & why:p

How do other people keep track of what they are getting/have got? Other than starting yet another list to be lost in the depths of my filing system [read old shoe box:o ]& trying to remember to take it out with me:confused: ....any ideas folks?

I have an excel spreadsheet .... it has names of gift recipient down the side and then columns of "max spend", "gift idea", "bit already got", "still need to buy", "cost", "future gift ideas".
In the row for my Mum's xmas pressie it reads

    "Mum"
    "£20"
    "pamper hamper"
"Basket, mini champers, original source showel gel, nail care kit, body butter"
"champneys goodies(sainsburys), eye gel thing(£2superdrug), simple/other white shower gel + white candle, big socks, face mask(£1superdrug) + thing to hold hair back, bath bomb, body puff, nail varnish"
    £8.50

    (hope that all makes sense)

I was thinking about Xmas just this afternoon when I looked in my present box, to see what was in there and could be used for this year!

What I thought about doing (and did 2 years ago, but wasn't organised enough last year) is to get some flower pots and grow bulbs in there. I did hyacinths last time, planted them in October and come Xmas they were perfect! A great present for the ladies!

I think I will have to pinch this idea if that is ok. They would be a great idea for the oldies in our family, definitely something my kids can do.

I've got a list of stuff I've bought for Christmas/Birthday baskets from the charity shops............what I need to do now is make yet another list with who is having what on it..............lol
Started making my Christmas cards this morning..........must check that list as well (got a Birthday book Mum gave me ages ago that I keep all that info in) as some people need adding to it.
OH thinks I've lost the plot but then he never has to 'do' Christmas apart from the food............lol

I'm knitting a scarf for partner's mum to go in a wrap up warm birthday hamper... started now as its been about 15 years since I've knittted anything and I need to re-learn how to do it. :o If it goes well I'm gonna do her a hat too!

I'm thinking about doing some bookmarks for 'book and bath' hampers.. you know the squiggly ones with beads. Think I'll experiment with these first though!

Edit: Perhaps should mention that partner's mum's birthday is 3 days before Christmas... which is why I've posted this on this thread!

I've just got back from Tesco. I only took £15 with me cost I was only getting some bits for school trip lunch packs and I know I wouldn't spend that much

Thought I'd have a quick look to see if my daughters magazine was out yet and found that most of Tesco's gift boxes, gift bags and some gift paper was reduced right down to £1 each!
Then I wandered round the toys and loads of them were reduced too!
I don't know if this is the same at other Tescos.

    Ended up getting :
    3 x pompom craft set 50p each (was£2 then£1)
A small cardboard puppet theatre £1.50 (was £3ish)
Shape sorter house £3.72 (was £5ish)
A tea set in a large tea pot £3.00 (was £8.00)
Packet 36 jumbo wax crayons 25p

I had to stop cos my basket was full and I was out of money :D If I'd only taken my purse . . . or maybe not
I'm pleased with my little shop :j

Think I'll have to pop to Tescos...............could do with a couple of gift boxes (thinking boys will prefer a box to a basket)

Right gone to organizedchristmas.com and printed off the master gift list to start getting myself organised!! Mind you more important is sorting out daughters friends birthday presets for Thursday, Saturday and Tuesday then it's her birthday a few days after that!! I will then really start getting myself together for Chrimbo!!

Our Tescos didn't have any gift boxes:confused: But one of the boys has given me a shoe box he had his new trainers in.........proper one with a lid, not the tuck in boxes you often get, so I'll cover that, it'll be easier for me to post to my son...........just need a few more now..........can't see boys liking wicker baskets somehow...................lol

OH does the lottery every week (ever hopeful) -I used to but don't bother now but think I might stick £1 a week in a jar -it'll help towards some expenses

Oh dear......I think I really do spend too much time on here:o I was looking at various BOGOFs & other offers today, to see if they would last for crimbo:p

I'm also working on a Baldrick--as in cunning plan!--to find something I could cook individual crimbo cakes in:rolleyes: ...little terracotta plant pots would probably work cuz you can do bread in those can't you?

Sounds like an excellent idea BMF..........don't see you can''t use plant pots for that...........failing that, make little christmas puddings.....won;t matter if they're wrapped in the pot if you pop a piece of holly on top
