We flew into Antalya but Side is about an hour and a half away.
We were told by both the travel agents and the locals that the lira has such a poor exchange rate that turks prefer Euros, I'm not confused, just stating what I've been told :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks folks, Thank you for the pics maytaurus, the lagoon is breathtaking!!!!! Well neither of us are night people but we do like a drink so we were thinking of our evenings centering around the evening meal, relaxing days with perhaps a little sightseeing would be nice, it seems like it is a very enjoyable place to go. Thank you all for your imput, now I will study it all again0

I shall be on that beach on Monday

Olu Deniz sounds like a quiet resort which would suit you susi. If you fancy a party Hisaronu is a short dolmus ride away. That's a more lively resort up in the mountains.
We've just found out that a couple we know are arriving in Hisaronu the weekend before we leave, so we're meeting them up there for a meal :cool:Here I go again on my own....0 -

Sorry but what has Bulgaria got to do with Turkey? or am i missing something here."Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0 -
Have a good time.
I have to say that although I found the countryside stunning and the weather fabulous Turkey is somewhat let down by its people.
Although on the whole they're friendly you will get hassled a lot and ultimately this becomes a chore day in day out.
The men are also very sexist and will pester you a lot.A friend of mine who is also in her " prime " has just come back from Gumbet swearing never to set foot in the country again - although as you see from the posts above other people love the place.
Myself,personally,I'd take Greece any day.0 -

I'm definitely no fan of blaming the female in situations like this so please don't misunderstand what I'm about to say but...
I think a lot of the hassle is caused by a cultural misunderstanding of how to behave in Turkey. Yes some men are perves, but that statement goes for everywhere in the world. I've been going to Turkey for years now and I think that if female tourists followed a few simple rules and showed consideration for the cultural norms in the country, they would be hassled a lot less.

Hello,
Does anyone know if the day excursions are easy to book? We're arriving in the evening and were hoping to get the excursions booked that evening, are the tour booking places open 'til late?0 -
been to marmaris & gumbet, and the excursions were open til late, very late!
they'll often try to get you in to book if you're browsing, but have a stroll around and barter,
i.e, booking multiple trips.
also if you're after a boat trip (a must do) check if they do all inc if you like a beer, works out really cheap and i dont know how they do it for the money,
last year i paid £10 for 6 hrs on the boat, umpteen beers n pops and dinner.
they must rob a warehouse for the drinks!
also ask how big the boat is, i prefer the small uns so its easier to mingle and seems more relaxed0
