My friend and myself are taking a holiday in September and have decided on Turkey. As its the first time I have been I just wondered if anyone could recommend a resort or hotel, we are two women both in our....erm prime!!!
I have heard good reports about Marmaris but other than that know absolutely nothing about Turkey.

We have been to Turkey a few times. Our favourite place is Hisaronu. There is plenty of excursions and things to do in the area. The beautiful beach at Olu Deniz is just down the road, and Fethiye and Calis all just a short bus ride0

I'm going to Olu Deniz on Monday.
We picked that resort as it seems more chilled out for quiet eating and drinking, rather than a loud party resort. Here I go again on my own....0 -
The first thing to realise is that there is no health and safety executive, some things will geniunely shock you
Take euros to spend and when you buy something, always ask for the price in euros.
Haggle when buying fom markets but don't take any crap.
I took my 17 year old niece with me and Turkish men were all over her so be careful.
Whereabouts in Turkey are you going?0 -
Been to Icmeler (about 5 miles from Marmaris)and loved it but have decided for October this year we are going to try Dalyan and have booked to go to the Alla Turca Hotel."Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0

Nothing good about Marmaris but the Fethiye area-- fethiye, calis, hisaronu or olu deniz are superb. Been there a dozen times and much much better than Marmaris where you get hassled.travelover0

we are going to turkey for the first time this august, we are going to lara beach which is near antalya, from what I can tell, antalya is nice with a wonderful harbour, there is also lots of old ruins to see eg purge etc, we are staying in the barut lara beach hotel which looks fab, check out tripadvisor for more info0

Generally you get hassled to some extent everywhere in Turkey, its there way! Personally i found Hisaronu way worse than Marmaris, Olu being the most chilled.
Whits - did you go to the antalya region? As thats where Euros are prefered. In the Dalaman region sterling is favoured.
Susi - perhaps if you tell us what your looking from for a holiday we can suggest an appropriate resort? Beach. lively, chilled, history etc?!?
Personally im a Marmaris fan, have been going there 14 years and have a apart there - Being such a big resort always something doing to keep us entertained. Whether its living it up down the beach or bar street in the evening - or chilling out in one of the restaurants away from the front. It has whatever you want

Becles -dont worry, you have been told correctly, Olu is predomantly Lira & sterling
Think Whits is assumes his experiences in the Antalya region is reflective of all Turkish resorts, which it isnt

This is The Blue Lagoon of Olu deniz .......

is the famous beach and blue lagoon. The long, sandy beach is really spectacular and it shelters the lagoon from the sea.
By the lagoon there’s a national park - it’s an excellent place to swim.
Try to do is a beautiful area of islands between Fethiye and Gocek. The only way to enjoy them is by boat providing access to the tourist-free secluded bays where you can snorkel, swim, climb the cliffs or just relax.
Have a look here if you haven't been before ... loads of info

Saklikent Canyon ( Gorge )
Twelve Island (The Blue Voyage)
Hisaronu & Ovacik
pound sterling is fine !
Don't forget to have £10 handy for your visa when you arrive !
Better stop there as getting carried away (to Turkey l-o-l)
There are lots of trips available from the companies in the main street in Hisaronu (don't use the reps, same trips, twice the price)
Have a great holiday
