they just kept going on and on and on about how many people have you seen, how many policies have you sold. By the way it was one provider of MPP etc. The mortgage was an added bonus at Countrywide. you got slated if you didn't penetrate 80% life/mortgage ratio.

Back to the forum, jackie, you seem to have got waht you wanted which is greta news. We are just giving you guys the inside of what happens in these large companies and "genrerally", not all, of how negs and branch managers want certain people to buy houses.

It is the same answer that I get back from all countrywide staff that I have spoken to in my time. I have even had one of them crying in my office because she couldn't work out why I was taking a lot of business from her.

She was far too nice for her environment and also being freshly qualified with no experience of placing business other than her role in a local BS with one set of lending criteria was not helping. Her manager told her she would have time to get upto speed but still wanted to know why she was not on target.

Its definitely not a place for new starters into the role but experienced ones know the score so a lot of places are now having to recruit newbies and turn their roles into high turnover roles whilst the ones who fail drop out.

I have known them to fire people just for not hitting their insurance targets. don't get me wrong everyone recommends products but if people want to shop around or go with someone else, who the hell has the right to force someone to take it. Oh yeah, Countrywide tried to force sell it!!!

That doesn't surprise me one bit.

I have always said and always will say - do not take any mortgage advice from a mortgage adviser of a countrywide branded estate agency. Problem is that often people are beaten into submission or they play the you are more likely to get your offer accepted if you use our adviser trick.

Although there is a legal requirement to check the purchasers ability to proceed, the fact is that you do not need to use them for your mortgage...
