• Recently I have only been able to dip in and out of the forums and am sad to say that this is the second time I have dropped in on a forum where there seems to be some, too personal remarks.

As I said on the last forum where I came across this sort of thing, this is a site for ALL. There are no barriers, no us and them, no rich and poor. You do not have to be deep in debt or destitute to use this fantastic site. It is all about everyone being money savvy.

I was brought up by MSO parents and for the first 25 years of my marriage I was the same. I remember sitting at the top of the stairs dredding the post coming through the letterbox because I knew I did not have enough money to pay the bills. Then I became very successful in business and abandoned my MSO ways for about 8 years. The result being that although I have had some fantastic holidays, now have three properties and part ownership in two others, I was never happy spending a lot of money, I prefer to buy something when at the same time saving myself some money on whatever I’m buying. I have also accumulated some debts on credit cards, nothing enormous compared to some but big enough in my eyes. So I have returned to a life of MSO and am soooo much happier. :j :j

Being a MSE is a way of life no matter how much money you have. So please stop with the personal remarks.

Right I may understand what she is on about.

We recently put in an offer to for a house. We had an AIP from a broker not related to the EA. The EA had to see our AIP and make a decision on whether or not we we were in a proceedable position. They also said they could try to beat our offer which we refused to allow them to do. (as we could borrow double what we were asking for and didn't want them to know that).
They then passed this info on to the EA mortgage broker who qualified us and said we could indeed afford the house we wanted to buy.
It took a day or two before they "decided" this.

Yep, and it is not right. Why should an estate agent know how much a lender will or wont lend you. I could get an AIP for 1mil but when the lender sees my accounts they will roll about the floor laughing!

They are trying to manipulate the sales and I think they go to far.

PS. When I brough my house the EA asked me for this, I told them to spin. When they questioned it and go cra@@y I told them what I do and they backed off. Not because I am a broker but because I mentioned I deal with two EA's.

• at the end of the day all i wanted from this site was some info and advice, in the end we got what we wanted was a morgage, we are now looking for a house, but some of you people and you know who you are, have taken it upon yourselves,to slate me for spelling, and punctuation why?, its advice that i needed not personal remarks

I also told them I wasn't willing to show them my AIP as well, but they wouldn't pass on the offer without it. I actually had to end up getting my Dad to ring them as I was so upset with it all! I can see how people who don't know the rules can easily get fooled by this tactic, I think it is terrible.
They also thought we were 2 kids at first who wouldn't be able to afford it (I look really young for my age).
When they saw the AIP (which we actually asked for our offer price to be put on rather than the max amount OR the asking price) they bit our hand off. They also genuinely believed us when we said we didn't have any more money to offer ;)

If you have to type it in another application, use Notepad not Word and you will avoid all the "font stuff" nonsense.

I don't understand what you mean about getting logged off, unless you are using AOL's dreadful browser. Any sensible browser won't lose what you are typing just because your internet connection fails.

Quite right, Jackie. It's one thing to want to clarify some points that aren't coming across clearly but quite another to just use the opportunity to have a dig at someone. I'm very pleased you've got hold of the information you needed.

There are some who seem to enjoy knocking others for whatever reason they can find and some who jump to conclusions about whether the poster is serious if they don't understand what is being said. There's always the choice of just ignoring people and using humour rather than bully tactics.

There are some really good, honest people on here though, who are trying to be helpful and supportive to people who don't have access to the same information that they have. I definitely wouldn't be where I am in terms of contesting mortgage misselling without the help I've had from the forum.

Good luck.

I sometimes get logged off the forum too. Another way round this is to go into 'Preview Post' every paragraph or so, highlight what you have written, right click your mouse, press 'Copy'. Then you are effectively saving what you type as you go along and can 'Paste' back anything you might lose.
