how safe are these
i am looking for a 5/6 extension lead to plug in my pc, printer, monitor,speaker and desk lamp - so in effect i need 5plugs
rather than the situ where i have a 4 plug and have to keep swapping plugs when i want to use the printer are there 6 way gangways like these
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9821091/Trail/searchtext%3EEXTENSION+LEAD.htm
which can be used safely by being plugged in all them time
or what other way can i do this without having to keep swaping plugs ?

ooo you would have to be careful with that, accidently plug your monitor into the master socket, hit power button on monitor and bumph.. power to pc is cut
as for op yup that looks fineclick here to achieve nothing!0 -
Home Bargains have a Belkin surge protection 6 way for around £6 !

Completely safe, I've a 7 socket one for part of my setup (specialist made with filters), then two more 4 socket ones powered by a UPS!
Homebase sell 4, 6, 8 and more gang extension leads too, some with filters, some individually switched etc.0 -
i need one with a 4m lead though and the green saving ones are only 2m long0

Just make sure you don't exceed the power limit! Easy.
P=IV (where P=power in Watts, I=current in Amps, V=voltage in Volts)
Most power adapters and extension leads allow a maximum of 13A of current, and UK mains voltage is nominally 230V. So maximum power is:
P = 13A x 230V
P = 2990W
You should find the maximum power consumptions printed on the various devices or in the documentation. Add them all together, and so long as they total less than 2990W, you should be fine.
To reduce the risk of fire, a 13A fuse should be fitted to the extension lead, anyway.0 -

You didn't mention that in your original post
Have you tried the ones in Homebase, I think they have various choice of leads?
Else if you are proficient with electrics, you can just change the lead for the length you require, as long as you use the correct rated 13amp flex.0 -
