Thanks for your reply and your concern.
He seems pretty clued up on them. He wore them himself for a year before deciding to dispense them and has had a fair bit of training from the sound of it.
The software and equipment involved is fascinating and the result are brilliant. My distance vision has not been this good for about 10 years, be it with lenses or glasses.
I have only been wearing them for a week and he has seen me 3 times so far to check them and the results. In the initial stages he wants to see me every week. The follow up process seems to be pretty good.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
I'm not sure which type of lense you are wearing but if you are wearing them all night you may be struggling to remove them because of dryness? Have you tried some of the Blink drops for rewetting?0

When I used to wear lenses I'd put loads of drops in them first before attempting to remove them, like Sausagecat says, it makes it far easier.Owing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice.

There is a foolproof method involving putting your fingers on the lid margins and bringing the lids together. You really ought to discuss this with your practioner if you are having problems.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Nedmundo - that is the method I have been trying. Works fine for left eye but not the right.
Will try the drops suggestion.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
I am trying out the new OrthoK lenses which you wear at night and remove for the day. My distance vision is superb.
My one problem is getting them out in the mornings. I have tried the blink method and the grabbing your eyelids metehod but struggle quite often, especially with my right
these lenses have got to be harder to remove than standard RGP lenses as they are intended to stay put during rapid eye movement during sleep, whereas standard rigid lenses move on blinking - they are also a very tight fit as they squash the cornea enough to remain in shape throughout the day! the suckers work well in removing rigid lenses but it is an outdated method due to infection risks - maybe it is worth speaking to the professional fitting the lenses as to the whys and wherefores of using and clening and storing a plunger/sucker device saftley.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. Well I got the day soft lenses, even spoke to my contact lens specilist in boots about them. He said it was a good idea as I would then be wearing the high spec lenses. boots 37.99 day soft 9.99. These are the most expensice ones they do. they arrived and are just as comfortable as the J & J moist. I was just advised to visit every year for a check up. I think its great.0

I wear glasses and am quite happy with them, however I am going on holiday next month and will be doing a scuba diving course so have been told contact lenses would be a good idea, so I am thinking of doing a free trial then cancelling when I get back.
I have never thought about getting them before and haven't a clue what they are all about. Do I have to get them a specific size etc for my eyes, or can I order online using my glasses prescription?
Does anyone have any idea about the latest free trials that are on? I go away at the end of the month so want to get something organised asap before I go.0 -
My OH gets daily's for holiday swimming things.
You dont need a free trial and then to cancel. Buy your box of dailys and then they are there for whenever you go away.0 -

Incorrect.
You can't (or at least shouldn't be able) to purchase contact lenses without a contact lens specification - so you will need a contact lens fitting. Contact your optician.0
