Mobile Phone Credit Being Used Up

My phone is never used for outgoing calls but is left switched on for emergency incoming calls. The balance has been going down regularly . In the last two weeks it has gone from £4.64 to 94 pence .
Tonight it made some sounds whilst unattended and I came to look at it to see it was substantially less balance than before. There was a new message from an unknown source which I didnt answer.
Is there some way that someone is stealing my phone credit ? I dont know how or why, does anyone know?

Have you signed up to any companies for ringtones etc? Could someone have done it using your phone?Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

I think you should contact your phone company as a first port of call to find out exactly what is debiting money from your prepaid balance. Only they will be able to tell you exactly..0

What do you mean by "it made some sounds"? Making some sounds alone can't reduce your balance. Have you checked to see if you received a text?0

What I mean is the little beep sound that lets you know you have a text, and its a long text and one from an advertising company or something that I am getting.
I think they are sending me reverse charge texts which I have heard about and I am wondering how to stop it.0 -
reply with the word 'STOP'0

Thanks, so when I get another of these texts I press `reply` and then `STOP` in capital letters?
Will that stop the perpetrator permanently do you think?0 -
Yes, or do it now if you have still got the text.0

Hi, can you go online via internet and check your account with your service provider?
That should state where charges are being made.
Alternatively, contact your service provider direct, explain the problem and leave the ball in their court to sort out.
As nunnygirl has mentioned, if someone has used your phone and downloaded a ringtone, then it may incur a service or monthly charge and is probably the likely cause.
A similar problem is discussed here for reverse charges.

Personally I wouldn't reply just yet. Best bet is to contact your operator and ask them what has been deducting from your credit. They should be able to tell you the originator, and if you look up the company on the web, or post it back here, then hopefully it'll help to get detials as to how to stop them.0
