Eventually managed to get through to npower, it appears our high units totalled 5252 so we were overcharged £29.54. However we are not due all this money as the units that we were overcharged on should have been charged at the lower rate. Hope you can understand what I am trying to say. Therefore, we are due a refund of £15 and they have agreed to make it £20 to cover phone call. They are sending cheque within 10 days. Still not completely sure this is a success story as my maths isnt great but its better than nothing. Thank you all for bringing this to my attention.
ps the person I spoke to said to keep counting the higher units from Jan 08 to Jan 09 to ensure this does not happen again, quite ridiculous that we have to do this and cant trust them.2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

I would also mention that I did actually throw into the conversation that I would rather get it sorted today and not have to go down the road of writing to them, Ofgem or Energy Watch hoping this would indicate that I was serious about getting a result and not completely ignorant about it all, thanks to everyone on here.2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

So far you have been charged 5082 kWh at the high rate for about 9.5 months. The contract is for 4572 per year. From the bills you posted your year will be complete 15/03/2008. Probably around another 1000 or so high rate kWh to go yet. Therefore you are well overcharged but the exact amount can't be determined until you have a complete year of bills or call them back and ask for high rates charged up to and including 15/01/08-15/03/08.0 -

I am going to sound so dim here but what do you mean "the contract is for 4752 per year" I don't understand. I have tried to click on the links to the related threads on this subject but they say they dont exsist.
Also, I have moved house this week, and that "old account" is being closed down and a new account started at the new property. The old account is about £400 in debit according to NPower, for gas and electric, but they haven't issued a final bill yet. How do I work out what I have been overcharged once I get it, I am confused over all this!!CC limits £26000

The other threads have gone which is a shame. Your contract with npower is that they will charge you for a maximum of 4572 KWh per year at the high rate and the remainder of the units you use at the low rate. Hence the first bill you posted was 703 at the high rate and 604 at the lower rate. They don't charge the 4572 all at once but spread them over the year. As you can see, so far they have billed you for more than a years worth (4572) units at the high rate and you haven't reached a year yet. The year will end for you on 15/03/08 ie 12 months after the start date of the first bill you posted. By that time you could well have been billed for over 6000 units at the high rate instead of the contracted 4572. Already npower have broken their contract with you. You won't know by how much until you have a full years of bills to work with. Remember we are concerned only with the higher priced units. The amount (number) of these units charged at the higher rate should not exceed 4572 in a year. That is the agreement between you and npower.
To work out how much they have overcharged you deduct 4572 from the total number of high rate units on your bills. Deduct the low price from the high price ie 6.127-1.99. Multiply the numbers together and add 5% VAT.
With your bills so far it is 5082-4572= 510kWh.
Price is 6.127-1.99= 4.137.
You have been overcharged 510kWh*4.137p =£21.09 + VAT @ 5% = £22.15.
By the end of 12 months this will be more like £50 or so but needs to be worked out from the bill(s) you have yet to receive which will cover from January to maybe April so you have a full year to work on.0 -
Where have all the threads gone regarding NPower sculpting? Have you eaten them DirectDebacle???0
