Hi everyone
Am just looking at npower gas bills for last year and our tariff appears to be:
Jan 07 to Apr 07 1711kwh at 4.412 and 1636 at 2.492
Apr 07 to May 07 122 kwh at 4.412 and 129 at 1.915
May to Jul 07 845 kwh at 4.412 and 65 kwh at 1.915
This was on our July 2007 bill and I would mention that we were on the Gas Guardian Scheme.
Now we are on Sol 10 Gas Tariff
Unit rate up to and including 4572 kwh per year 5.602p/5.880p
Unit rate over 4572 kwh per year 1.631p/1.71p
Am I being fleeced or is this a good deal as I am confused to say least?
According to the figures npower have provided for charging high rate units you may have been charged a maximum of 6356 high rate units from May 07 to April 08. This would be an overcharge of (6356-4572=1784) (5.88-1.71= 4.09) 1784 * 4.09p = £72.96.
You need to add the high units only for a whole year.0 -

Mary,
It is your bills after 14/06/07 that will show how much you have been overcharged - NOTE, not if you have been overcharged, but by how much!!!0 -

You really need to go to this thread to follow it properly: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=822299
Put simply most of the overcharing will have taken place from April/May 2007 to March/April 2008. Add up the high rates only you have been charged for that year. If it comes to more than 4572 you have been done. The 4572 is for a year so you need a year of bills. The system npower introduced from 1st of May 2007 makes it almost impossible for any gas user not to have been overcharged from May 07 to april 08. If you are dual fuel do not add electricity, this applies to gas only.0 -
There may be further info on this in tomorrows (Saturdays) Times newspaper money section. They are running an article on npowers' mis-treatment of customers and this particular scam will get a mention.0

Oh dear.........I'm getting more confused.............
14 Jun to 28 Aug was 'estimated' and when it comes to trying to understand the layout of the bill its even more comlplicated
I'll get the newspaper tomorrow and see if I can make sense of it that way.
I have got a leaflet 'Your bill explained' but can;t really understand that either.
Oh why can't these companies just be fair from the start..........if I'm finding it hard, heaven help people with literacy problems.
Maths was never my strong pointMary

I understand why you are perplexed Mary but it isn't you. npower have deliberately overcomplicated their billing system to disguise this scam and make it difficult to for customers work out what they have done. Just take the simple approach and get bills covering April 2007 to March 2008 or thereabouts. Look at the number of high units on each bill. Don't bother with the prices. Just add up all the high units from each bill. If it is more than 4572 then you have been overcharged. Good luck.0

Going to have go at them by phone 2moz if poss, am not sure quite of my facts but will give it a try. What I cant understand is why OFGEM or whatever regulating body they are governed by havent insisted on them compensating customers that have overpaid. Will keep you posted and thanks for you help2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494
