I think I'm gonna struggle on £100 a month for grocerys! :undecided

Was in Tesco last night and was having a look at the fruit. £4 for a poxy tub of cherrys! £3 odd for a small pot of rapsberries! How the hell can people afford that?

That stuff's for lasses, mate. ;) Walk right on by to the pie section. £4 gets you a lot more proper grub there. :money:

As for fruit, the word you're looking for is "scrumping". ;)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I paid £1.69 for cherries tonight in Aldi, they're doing some F&V on special, 6 a week I think it is which are reduced in price. A good way to boost fruit intake without boostinga budget too much is to buy frozen fruit. I get the frozen berries from Aldi and add them to cereal. If you have one near by then you could try your local greengrocer or market.
One day I might be more organised...........

I think cherry's and raspberrys are the "luxury" end of the fruit spectrum - i.e. something you may have once or twice per fortnight, not something to make up your day-to-day fruit consumption from IYSWIM?

Ironing: Dont bother. Anything which may need ironing I dry on a hanger. Trousers and skirts go on 'clippy hangers', other possible ironees go on ordinary hangers - and they still don't get the crumples of outdooor drying.

Anyway - once you've been at work for half an hour no-one could tell whether what you're wearing is ironed or not.

Just don't bother. It's only you who will notice anyway...lol

Fruit wise, if you wait until things are fully in season they will be cheaper, just beware of certain supermarkets ploys to get you to buy more. Me and my boyfriend were in Sainsburys and saw a bogof on British strawberries, however when looking closely at them, they were mostly squashed and some were mouldy already. I always check the underside of soft fruits as you don't want to come home and find out your fruit is rotten.

Definitely check our either a local greengrocers or market as they will have better deals. Our fruit staples are bananas and oranges at the moment and then we add grapes or strawberries as a treat.

SS as for the rich older woman have you actually read my siggy!! WIll swap my DFD with yours anyday!!
Re he blender joking aside blokies you need one if youre going to keep the GB down for making soup, sauces etc ESP if you want to impress the girlies! Imagine the scene...you finally pluck up the courage to ask a girl to dinner (trust me they LOVE that!!) and you scour the market for cheapest pos food (steak & pepper sauce anyone) but blow me if you cant get the lumps out of the so called easy peasy sauce! Blend it & two mins later voila...a smooth sauce & a woman who goes back to tell her mates "and he can cook"!! You cannot undersestimate what this means to us girlies. Make bread for us & you can go out & buy the ring!!!! Simple but effective! The blender I posted has attachments (& we know how you boys like those!) so does all you need & its half price and compared to others a bargain!!
As for margot I'm surprised you could bother to post...
Right off to outlet shop to get cut price saucepans. Have you got an outlet village near you SS? May be worth a look!
Re fruit you need to eat some or you'll be really unhealthy plus cherries are definately (a) a luxury (b) a laxative if you eat too many!!

True - up to a point. Even I only iron the essentials: usually shirts which are going to be worn out. SS, my young padiwan, never underestimate the effect of a clean, well ironed shirt on a lady who knows you're single. As ISOM intimates, it's the little things that matter (for which some of us are very grateful). Anyway, I don't iron any of the casual shirts that I change into after work to slob about indoors. Trousers are hung to get out most of the creases and those for going out do get a swift once over. Again, those for indoor "slobbing" don't. Bedding, towels, underpants & socks certainly don't.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

I quite agree S! WHile I never iron crappy stuff for hom & casual stuff I would never go to work unironed! Some bedding you do have to iron if youre not careful (which is why I am getting rid of oe of my Ikea duvet covers!!) with fabric as it looks awfu otherwise..never understood why people iron undies! Mad!
SS re the shopping list argos & asda both have sales on home stuff at the mo. I got some gorgeous anodised no stick pans (last forever in otherwords!) that are a bargain at 35 for 3...cost 120 in outlet place so chffed I waited! Also looked in argos etc but nowhere as good as these so may be worth a look for you they are charcoal grey & quite heavy (good sign - if its a light pan dont get it as it wont last) plus they aso have frozen fruit for a quid at the moment - no peeling!!

Just told my mum I'm moving out!

She was really cool about it but I still feel really guilty. :undecided

It's just been the four of us (woofer included) since my brother moved out 7 or 8 years ago so it feels harder to do I guess being the youngest and last one to fly the nest! Mum was really alright about it but I know she's sad, guess it goes without saying, but joked how hard I'm gonna find it. :rotfl:

That's that one out of the way!
