You can make peppermint creams, probably with either condensed or evap milk, but I think I do it with condensed. Just add LOTS of icing sugar until you get a stiff consistency, then add mint flavouring, and green food colouring if you want to, then make balls and flatten them. You can dip them in melted chocolate too if you want.

Nope, sorry to disagree with most of you but Arkanites right.

remove the lid and stick yer digit into the condensed milk and lick it clean. Repeat till tin is empty. Best done in front of TV when no-one else can disturb.

    Heathens that we are, Eh?.

    MMMMmmm.

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

Made a key lime pie today with a tin of condensed milk!! It's gorgeous.

    3oz butter
    8oz digestives
Melt butter and stir in crushed biscuits. Press into the base of a 9" loose-bottom cake tin. Chill until cold.

zest and juice of 4 limes
    1/4 pint double cream
    tin condensed milk

Whisk filling ingredients for about 4 minutes, the mixture will be creamy. Slap on top of base, stick in fridge for about 4 hours or a long as you can stand the wait! The colder it is the better it is.

Good on the day it's made and even better next day if it lasts that long!!

It's too dangerous to use your finger, you might cut it and bleed into the can

Best to use a spoon ;)
  • An easy recipe to use up evaporated milk which in my opinion tastes divine.

    Gypsy Tart

Shortcrust Pastry made with 240g flour, 175g butter and 4tbsp water rolled out to line a 25cm flan ring. Bake blind for 15-20mins at 200C/400F/Gas 6 leave to cool.

    Filling
    400g tin evaporated milk
    350g Dark Muscavado Sugar

Whisk the evaporated milk and sugar for 10 mins until light and fluffy. The mix should be coffee coloured. Pour mix into pastry case and bake in the oven for 10mins until set. Leave to cool.

Make a yummy milk chocolate cake with the evaporated milk.

Link here to the good old be-ro site.

My mum use to make it and it is very nice and keeps moist for days. As long as you can keep in it the tin long enough. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to make this yummy choc cake a lot for birthdays etc when my kids were young. Seeing this post remeinded me of BeRo so yesterday I emailed them from their website and asked for a recipe book and one for my daughter.
Today the new books arrived and some very nice recipes.

I told them I used to make cakes from their first recipe book and they very kindly sent me photocopied pages from the old book I used!.

    Well done to them.
