Does anyone know anything that beats this?
Almost anything beats it in terms of quality / reliability. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
i know 2 people who have been with tiscali for a couple of yrs and never had any major problems....is this because we all live in north wales....would this have any bearing on the service?0

CPS - Carrier Pre-select (or something) - yes, it is something similar to talktalk - you pay BT line rental, and the rest you pay to the ISP0

Yes, CPS = Carrier Pre-Select.
This means you pay your phone line rental to BT, but your calls are automatically routed through your chosen carrier - your carrier of calls is pre-selected.
You don't have to have broadband from the same provider as your line rental, nor do you have to have broadband from your CPS supplier, though you can if you wish.
Up until recently, my line rental was with BT, calls were via TalkTalk (plus 18866 & 1899) and my broadband was with Pipex. I now have the same line rental and call providers, but my broadband is cable from Telewest. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc...
