Direct Debit taken from my account early

I must indeed quote my own Virgin Bill that states in bold...
The ''Amount due'' will be collected by Direct debit on or just after 28th April 2008
(Which was a Monday) and incidentally my D/D was taken on this day-so I don't know what bank you are with (I can only assume it's Barclays due to the way their system works) and this the reason that it has been debited on Saturday!
Virgin will of claimed the money at the close of business on Friday and the bank will of debited it Saturday when really it should of been Monday, which isn't very nice!Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!

But when you work out your bills for the month you know what’s going to come out of the account, so if you get paid on Friday then you should leave the coin in the bank for Monday’s DD, if you set your DD's too close to your pay date then that is just pure stupidity, all DD's are flexible so you can choose and change if necessary the date when the payment is due out.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

Saturday is not a working day so they cannot take it Saturday. It may show on Saturday as some banks can show what is going through monday but it doesnt actually go through until monday. It will impact on your cleared funds but that is common sense.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. True for direct debits but not Standing Orders - at least certainly not for Nationwide or Halifax (and no doubt others) who have argued to me that they are open on Saturdays and therefore they will take money from your account for a SO when the monthly date falls on a Saturday. This is particularly annoying when it just before a bank holiday Monday.0 -
Natwest operate a credit before debit system so if you have a SO/DD going out on a Monday and you pay in the money to cover it on the Monday morning (providing it is a cash deposit) then the DD/SO will be covered and be paid. Not all banks operate Credit before Debit though!!0

The system at barclays will debit on a statement on a saturday and it shows as such because their systems do not recognise sat and sun as a working day-however they need to still run central functions and telephone banking on saturday-customers benefits and payments due in and out on Monday morning can be seen by Barclays staff on the saturday as the system thinks it's Monday-I apologise that I didn't make myself clear-if it confused me when I used to explain it to customers, what chance do they have! Lol!!Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!

well the exact wording on my bill is:
The 'Amount Due' will be collected by Direct Debit on or just after 12 May 2008
so is it in breach taking or earmarking it before it
No - as explained to you earlier ... read the T&Cs on your Account. It's standard practise to ringfence DD sums due out on the Monday .. over the weekend. One of the few exceptions is Halifax .. and they don't do it because they run their systems Sun night and pick the funds up then. But it's academic ... because (read the T&Cs again) you need the funds there by close on the previous working day ... which is the Fri night.
And as explained to you several times .. they haven't 'taken' it .. it's not due to go out, hence the date on it, until overnight tonight. No breach ... just the way it's worked for years. And will continue to do so (Faster Payments don't impact DDs) ... whilever Banks don't run their Batch systems at the weekend. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
