Scared - May have cervical cancer

Good luck for Monday.
Can I just add Cervical Cancer isnt always a death sentance. I was diagnosed 5 years ago. I had 2 different forms of cancer growing, one on the outside of the cervix and a rapid growing one in the middle of the cervix. I hadnt missed any smears or noticed anything abnormal. I had my cervix removed, I never needed any more treatment afterwards although I was warned if they hadnt removed it all I would be back in a week later for a hysterectomy. One of the reason you are called in so quickly is that the hospital will have a certain amount of time dedicated to treating cervical problems. My hospital had 6 weeks........yours could have less time.
But like you, I remember being shocked at how quick it all seemed to happen.
I recall being told straight away I was having a hysterectomy, and at that time I was shocked to be told I had cancer, never mind needing hysterectomy that I asked if there was any other way of treating it......like I said shock and I think it was me trying to take some control back......but I'm glad I did, cos thats how they ended up just removing my cervix (quite a large amputee as the nurses like to tell me now on check ups) and as it was just the cervix I was able to have another child.I also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like you

Just a thought, but if I am reading your dates right (its very late, sorry if I've got it wrong) but its 3 weeks since your last lot of treatments, chances are you being called in to say your results are fine. Fingers crossed eh???:jI also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like you

That's exactly what i thought. They have to call you back to give you the results either way, so it's quite possible it's good news. They'll want to see you at the hospital as soon as they have the results, as they are aware that this will be playing on your mind, i expect.
Loads of luck xxx

Sorry if Im a bit ignorant but would they not have told you that you had cancer before they did the hysterectomy
I didnt have a hysterectomy, I had a hysteroscopy which is a camera into the womb.
Edit, just noticed Judy has been corrected.
Thanks

Just want to add a few words of encouragement as well. I can understand how scared you are feeling especially as you are trying to stay strong. I go into hospital at the end of the month having been diagnosed with cancer of the uterus and am very scared.
I have found it very helpful to post on here where people have been so supportive and kind. It is indeed easier to "speak" to people who are not emotionally involved and that you will probably never meet.
I will be really thinking of you on Monday evening, good luck and lots of hugs.
Sue
Oh Sue, i'm sorry to hear that. Cancer is such a terrible disease.
I came across a saying today which said "Cancer is a word, not a sentance".
I'll be thinking of you. xxThis space is available to rent...
