Our Tesco was accepting coupons last night, I used £22 pound worth. And my neighbour shopped there this morning and they accepted her £7.10 worth from yesterdays mail and several internet vouchers.

    Hi guys.

I work for the big T on checkouts and last night when I logged on to my till a message came up that we no longer accept coupons unless the customer actually buys the product. On talking to my Team Leader it is believed that this is not just our store but national and apparantly it is due to people abusing the system.

    Sorry peeps
Oh, nooooooooooo  I just bought 17 copies of DM and plained to have a big shopping tonight.

We have just come back from our local Tesco store, and used £15.00 vouchers mix of coupons / internet and £5.00 morrisons spend, no probs at all. (we didnt buy the products) x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • The self scan machine at my local Tesco's was accepting moc's this morning without having to buy the actual product.
  • well just got back from a T extra - tried to use 20ish coupons and the c/o op said sorry only 5 - even though I took the policy (thank you R4pture) and phoned head office before I went, who also said YES no problem.

Got to the end of it after 40 mins and all my chilled stuff having to be replaced!! Itsa t the store managers discretion - and they are sending me a NEW policy as the one mentioned on here seems to be no longer in use.

Their loss cause I will now go every day with 5 coupons and get more money off, free exercise for me too. Thanks T!!!
  • I have also had problems with my local (T) am waiting for HO to send out their new and revised policy although the general consensus seems to be " AT THE STORE MGRS DISCRETION" so it has now become a postcode lottery.

Took the T policy as posted on here and they said that it was out of date and did not apply.

Am going to write to HO and complain as the store policy should be universal and the staff should know it !!!

They did take all the coupons I had (16) as a "goodwill gesture" but said they were under the impression it was only 5 and they could not have "T" anywhere on them or you had to buy the product.

Am going to go in once a day with 5 until it's clarified.

Just to let you all know that the £1 coupon for the uncut magazine(has a david bowie like image on the front) scans and you can print off as many as you like - am now going to print a load !!!!

Thanks to OP for this thread, used June coupon to get July In-Style mag (in a Tesco Express - no questions asked) for £1. Today I used the £10 coupon, that was in the mag, towards a Wella hair colour at my usual hairdressers. £1 well spent.

ive printed off a couple of the coupon print ones that have appeared at this thread which amounted to just over £3 - did the self scan myself

so will be going back next week to use the same coupons again
  • To be honest, I don't think most of the staff know what to believe themselves anymore. My local Tescos have a lot of staff who I know to have been there for years and they are all happy to take one of a kind, in stock and in date & internet print-offs. I have gone back to the same SA time and time again and they obviously haven't been advised otherwise. On the other hand newer staff (most of the duty managers/team leaders) appear to each have their own opinion (either only 1 against a whole shop, sometimes 3, sometimes no internet, sometimes 10%) and refuse pointblank to acknowledge that Tesco has a head office let alone a national policy.

I now accept some days are good, some are not so good. Right now I prefer points! At least no-one can argue the value of these!
