I totaly agree with josie, i was told only the other week that no internet coupons would be accepted in my local mr t's. yet tonight after leaving it about a week n half i decided to give it another go, and lo n behold she took them all, i even had two diff lots as had the now coupons and two 5.00 off 40.00 spend to use so i spent 50.00ish quid on 100.00 pounds worth shopping. got lots of xmas pressies YAY but was a little gutted they never had any of the free books left :rotfl:Yeah, but you could quite easily go back in and get a different SA tomorrow who'll take the whole lot again - it varies from day to day, SA to SA and branch to branch etc., etc. and depends on whether there's an 'R' in the month, the sun's shining, it's raining................................... etc., etc., etc!!!

i spoke to customer services on saturday the 4th of august regarding their policvy which has been discussed on this thread and here it is
Thank you for contacting us about the acceptance of coupons in our stores.
All Tesco specific coupons display the Tesco logo. We'll only accept these at the till if you buy the product shown on the coupon at the time.
We're happy to accept a non-Tesco product coupon even if you don't buy the item. But, the coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the product. If you present more than one identical coupon you need to purchase the same number of products. This also includes coupons printed from the Internet. Some of these vouchers may be subject to acceptance at the discretion of the Store Manager.
I hope this has helped to explain things for you.
Thank you for taking the time to contact us.Customer Service Manager

They seem to be sending standard word for word replies to anyone that queries the policy! I emailed Customer Services before I went on holiday and came back earlier this week to exactly the same reply word for word.:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

my computer died - and I lost all my files... everything all my coupons but more importantly all my photos and music AND all my accounts - horrible. It is going to take me a week to get all my business stuff back up and running.
However - now my computer is fixed I can reprint all my coupons again from couponnet as it doesn't recognise I have printed them once already- is it sad that I am almost happy it happened because of this? Obsessed? Moi?I miss using my infinite coupons at Tesco!
2010 was the worst year ever

Hello all,
I have spent a short while this afternoon reading through this thread as at the moment, any money that I can save will really help our household.
I primarily shop online through tesco and use the tesco codes for money off on another thread - so I am already saving here.
I do go to a Tesco Store most days to buy fresh products and the odd treat and can therefore use coupons in my local store (Leeds City Centre).
I have printed off and read the Tesco Policy on Coupons shared on page one of the thread but I am still a bit confufed.
Could one of you please clarify the following:-
I have printed off some coupons from safe coupons.co.uk.
£1 off innocent smoothies
30p off yumbles
£1.50 off Pedigree dry.
I have no use for any of these products but think that I could still use the coupons as money off my shopping at Tesco as they are non-tesco or competitor coupons - IS THIS THE CASE?
I have read the conditions on each coupon and it does say "Please do not attempt to redeem this coupon against another product as refusal may cause embarrasment". one of them actually mentions Tesco by name "this coupon gives £1 off any innocent smoothie bought at Tesco - please do not try to buy anything else with it..." etc etc.
The bar codes end as follows - 3017/9275/ 4609
I do not want to miss out on £2.80 off my next shop at tesco store BUT nor do I want to look an idiot at the checkout - as I do go in there everyday.
If someone could clarify this for me I would really appreciate it.
Many thanks.

Yes (providing these are non store specific)you can use these three coupons without buying the product,(see below re barcodes) providing the manager at your store has decided he will accept internet coupons...and then told his staff of his decision......some dont, some do....and dont worry about looking like an idiot at the checkout....we've all been there done that, and its part of the learning curve......Unfortunately youve asked your question onthe wrong thread, and both of us will no doubt now be shouted at....but again....all part of the learning curve....I have used multiples of these coupons on the same transaction, without buying any of the products.....it just depends on how alert the SA is....or whether they actully care............
Couponers usually claim that the wording on the coupon is for Tesco employees to read...not the customer.....Tesco coupons usually say one per transaction, I and others have used over 50 coupons in a single transaction....as i say its SA dependant....
Having said all this, the barcode readings you give dont seem correct and (with respect) are you sure you are reading the actual coupon barcode, and not the code given by the coupon supplier....(or are your coupons store specific)
Non Store precific coupons have a presentable way of reading the barcode...
a 60p off coupon should end 060*
a 30p off coupon should end 030*
and a £1.50 off coupon should end 150*
The * being a check digit(unimportant)
and all your coupons should start with 99Couponing....."every little hurts"

Have been in to 3 Tesco brances today. My local branch is good and will accept any amount of internet coupons. Had to travel so popped in to 2 other branches to check things out. One branch would only accept 10% of the total bill and had a notice to prove it and the other branch were totally clueless (to be polite). I know previous posters have explained that neither Tesco nor the manufacturers actually lose out on us using coupons when we don't buy the products but someone must be losing out here (just the manufacturers shareholders?). If we are using coupons correctly ie no duplicates, genuine printouts, etc. can I use coupons with a clear conscience knowing that it is at no one else's expense? Some further clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.0
