I posted this previously, but thought I would post again, because I have received a response and if I post just reply, might confuse some people (would me) :rotfl:
This is the Tesco coupon policy I received (similiar to other peoples) and the e mail I have sent, which when I receive a reply, I will post.
Thank you for your email.
I have detailed below some information on the acceptance of coupons in our stores which I hope will help you.
All Tesco specific coupons display the Tesco logo. We'll only accept these at the till if you buy the product shown on the coupon at the time.
We're happy to accept a non-Tesco product coupon even if you don't buy the item. But, the coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the product. If you present more than one identical coupon you need to purchase the same number of products. This also includes coupons printed from the Internet, but these will only be accepted at the discretion of the Store Manager.
I hope this has helped to explain things for you.
Dear Sirs,
Thank you for your quick reply to my question regarding your coupon policy.
The policy does not say if there is a limit on the amount in money of coupons which can be used.
Could you advise me if it would be possible for me to e mail your stores in my region (approx 4, Leeds, Barnsley and Batley) so that I can find out their individual policy, so that I can then take the copy with me when I go shop there?
The problem I and many others are finding is that the shop is saying no and then pointing out the "at the Managers Discretion" part of the e mail, when your policy is shown to them.
Our forum is wondering why the managers at different stores have different policies and obviously, don't want to keep getting embarrassed every other time we shop.
RESPONSE
I am sorry that the response received did not advise of the limit of 'money off' coupons you can use against a single purchase.
These coupons are accepted at the discretion of the store managers and unfortunately we are unable to provide you with an email address to contact the stores directly.
I appreciate that each store managers decision is different and that this is causing some embarrassment. I would therefore advise you to confirm with the store what there policy is with regards to accepting these coupons before shopping.
I hope this information has helped and thank you for contacting Tesco.
Well it was worth a try, and I must admit they are quick to reply.
.Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

BLUEWKD - why not write to your local store manager via snail mail, and then give your address (and email) so they can write back confirming their individual policy?0

Hello Coupon Princess
Love the name.
I have read the Tesco coupon policy but went there today and they refuse the Marie Claire and Daily Mail book token even though I checked that they were sold there - yes.
They were very difficult about it and did not beleive that I had read the policy on this site
I am new to coupons and found it all very embarrassing especially being virtually called a liar
Have you had any trouble like this?0 -

you are more generous than I would be giving them a stamp and an envelope!!!!
if you intend to type the letter, you could add in that you've sent an electronic copy of the letter to HQ - as I think this would guarantee they would respond (and quite promptly)!!!!! (then don't forget to reply to your latest email form HQ with a copy of your letter attached).
Hope this works out well for you!0 -
hello
Hope you don't mind me joining in here but I don't think the manager will comit to an answer even if you do write as adding that to their policy gives them a get out.Tesco know that customers are upset and frustrated by this yet carry on using it.If they were bothered they would give clear and unambigous instruction that leave no room for mistakes or embarressment to customers. I was in Tesco today and they would not accept Marie Claire or Daily Mail coupons initally and said that they never had unless purchased and when I told them that I used a Marie Claire last week they said it must have gone through in error.I told them that I had read their policy and politely stood my ground and they eventually accepted the MarieClaire coupon but not the book token so it seemed as if they made it up as they went along. They would not let me speak to a manager and I think rely on you being too embarrassed to push the matter and I think that is policy tooLima-India wrote: »you are more generous than I would be giving them a stamp and an envelope!!!!

hi tractor man
I think it is worth a try writing (a very polite letter) to the store. This is less confrontational than trying to speak to a manager whilst stood at the till.
I for one do not want to abuse the system (I'm not suggesting you do) - I want to know the rules of the system and then I will act by them.
Having written confirmation of a policy does hold more weight than verbal communication.
The Daily Mail book token has been blocked for a while now (lots of threads around about this) - I perceive this is because they were receiving more vouchers than they were selling copies of the book - and thus Tesco could not redeem with the publishers as they did not have the sales figures to match! Recent reports on the forum's thread has been that the marie-claire coupon has also been blocked in some stores.
The Tesco's I visit are inconsistent about internet coupons - but I have come up with my own rule of thumb that I will only use internet coupons when I'm actually buying the product - e.g. Mitchum (I got it for 12p by using the 50% and £1 voucher, or the free smoothies vouchers).
With my other internet vouchers I pop into Waitrose which is next to my gym, and pick up reduced items, special offers etc as they are happy to take up to 5 coupons per transaction. So for example yesterday morning I went to Waitrose and bought Mail on Sunday (Ask 2 for 1 voucher) and NOTW (£5 off £30 Tesco spend) and a few other offers items, and then I paid with the Marie-Claire coupon - thus the two papers cost me 25p of my own cash which I was converting into further money saving.
I see savings made through coupons as a privelege rather than a right. If they accept them great, if they don't, I assess whether I still want to proceed with purchase and if I don't I walk away.
I really hope you will have more success in the future - stick with it, and keep your eyes peeled on the MSE forums - they are an amazing wealth of knowledge - and sometimes you might not be able to benefit from the offers, but you might have friends who could - so it's great that you can bless your nearest and dearest with details of an offer!
Sorry this became so long.......

I believe LI has responded and as far as I know is correct about the DM coupon personally I have never even tried it. Had no probs with the MC coupon though. I suggest go back select your SA carefully youngish and bored looking or sweet looking, while beeping shopping through make a bit of conversation to build rapport not too much though and fingers crossed.:rotfl:AKA: PC
