Hi all,
I grew up abroad and returned to the UK 5 years ago. It seems a bit silly traveling abroad for holidays as I haven't seen much of our home. Can anyone please suggest the best place to holiday(a weeks worth) in England/UK for a family of 4. (2 young ones 9 months and 5 year old)

Without doubt, it has to be Devon or Cornwall.

I reccommend Tenby (wales) or St.Ives in Cornwall. very beautiful places. But I do also love Great Yarmouth and Brighton, which are both great for kids!0

Living near Brighton, it is fun for a day trip but not ideal for a family holiday unless you don't mind traffic and stag and hen parties. Go a few miles along the coast to Eastbourne. I would second Great Yarmouth though, and Dorset is great for younger kids too.Self employed and loving it

South Devon - Torquay/Paignton area if you want coast
Gloucestershire/South Wales border - Forest of Dean area is beautiful for family holidays0 -
When i was a kid, i had my summer holidays in either Anglesey, which is beautiful, and north Devon, Woolacombe (i think). Both places are amazing, and you should be able to find plenty to do...

Back to Scotland for us this year - 2 adults and a 2 year old.
Our biggest mistake ever for a UK holiday was Cornwall - for many reasons we just didn't enjoy it and failed to see why people raved about it.0 -
