Another vote for Pembrokeshire here... I have much the same age kids as you, and at that age I don't think you can go too far wrong with buckets, spades and a nice sandy beach - they're not really into walking or scenery at that age (which Pembs has loads of anyway!). Other places are nice too, don't get me wrong, but if you're tied to school holiday times, you might as well forget the usual places (e.g. Dorset/Devon/Cornwall) unless you like sitting elbow-to-elbow on the beach and huge traffic jams when you try to go anywhere!
Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.
  • St Kilda's great. The problem is, getting there cost's more than a return flight to Bangkok!

My vote is for Isle of Wight. No hustle bustle of the mainland, plenty to see and do, ferry expensive but clubcard vouchers can save you a packet.

We have used http://www.orchards-holiday-park.co.uk/ for a weeks break the last four years and its perfect for kids under 10 (no club) but indoor and outdoor swimming pools and the most fantastic staff!

I am in Southport right now and can't sing its praises highly enough. Acres of sandy beeches, wonderful shops, loads for all the family to do. It has that quaint old English seaside charm but is also bang up to date.

Handy frequent train links to Liverpool too, and Blackpool is just around the corner.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D
