I still can't tell from one visit to the next what's going to happen when I give over a voucher (s). Gave a £3 WS blade voucher today, didn't buy product was ok at Mr T's.
Used Self scans couple of days ago at Mr T's, very late at night tills out, acted as if I'd never used the self scans (which for vouchers I hadn't) but really made it clear I was a novice !!! so that if anything went wrong I'd have a fall back, bunged in a joey OK, had bought some more blade WS£3 off blades used 6 of the £3 wS blade vouchers I had already, even though supposed to be used in 8 pack, was informed by supervisor that they were for 8 pack after the 6th, 'oooh' :rolleyes:I says pretending to act as if it was a real mistake, I've put them in now what do you want me to do, acting all innocent, it's an easy mistake to make just let it go through, but remember next time 1 voucher if you don't buy it, 'will do' I says
, hope you ain't on next time I'm on the self scans I thinks
Tried a JOEY in ASDA to buy some more joeys. Lady said didn't take it (at bottom it says accepted in tescos, morrisons, sainsburys, etc), yet earlier in the day they were fine with it.
Tried to use JOEY in Sainsburys guy said they don't accept vouchers unless you buy it.
What can you say but its a total mess, surely these big companies have internal auditors and processes so that this should be an exact policy store to store, checkout to checkout. But it looks like its a total shambles.0 -
i went to tesco today and gave over my extra points coupons - they accepted 100 extra points if you buy huggies (i bought pampers), but didnt take the 40extra points if you spend 70p or more on bread (i spent 69p?). was surprised they took the 100 one and not the other!0

I went to Tesco's last night and bought five packs of WS blades. As it was a young female checkout person I thought I would chance my luck. Every time she scanned the blades I took the coupon off of the pack and handed it to her. She accepted them all. :T Also bought 4 niveas and my total came to £1.90. She didn't bat an eyelid. Went in today, bought £5 odds of shopping, used a remaining WS voucher and a sunday times voucher for this Sunday coming and the young male checkout person took them both. He did query the WS voucher, asking whether I had bought blades but I said that I thought Tesco's took vouchers as long as they scanned and they sold the item and he was happy with that. He said it would be extra beer money for me. (Must look like an alcoholic! LOL)
My usual tactic is to go to check out with young men as they are more likely to put them through.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -
Bought £19.74 worth of shopping and handed over 2x £3 intuion vouchers 1x joey voucher and a 15p warburtons voucher. Tried 4 nivea (must have been wrong ones didn't work) My bill came to 10.59 and then I went straight to customer service for £9.96 refund on the mistake niveas, total spend £1.63p :rotfl: Young lad on the till couldn't care less how many vouchers you hand over and he was very pleasant as well.0

They only mean the Tesco vouchers that come in the post from collecting Clubcard points (the ones we trade in for 4 times their value in Clubcard Deals). They don't take ordinary Tesco money-off vouchers, that's my understanding anyway.0 -
I always try to go to the same checkout people when I use vouchers in my local tesco. Always smile and say hello and they remember me and expect a nice thick wad of vouchers.
I've only ever had any real trouble, and that was with this young guy who decided to try and implement his own version of the Tesco voucher policy. When I asked him if was company policy not to accept vouchers if you hadn't bought the product he told me it was and I asked him to get his supervisor. Soon put him straight!0 -
I must be really lucky but I rarely have any problems using vouchers. When I 1st heard of this policy (on MSE
), I went straight to CS desk and asked what the policy was. I was informed that I could use 3 different vouchers per shop even if not buying product but provided they stock it. I always adhere to this policy but ensure that I put my shopping thru in either 2 or 3 lots and use 3 vouchers for each one. I have my regular till operators who I always go to. I have only been questioned once and when I told him the policy, he was quite happy to stick them through. I also try to ensure that I have high value coupons (Joeys, Intution etc) so that I get the highest percentage possible off my shopping. I regularly get 30-50% off. :j

HI
I'm quite new to MSE and am amazed at all the top tips. I spend far too much on shopping and would love to reduce it. I have started to shop in Tesco a little bit more- looking for bargains- but would love to use vouchers! Where do you get yours from? What are JOEYS? Any top tips?

I've come to the conclusion that its much better to give the cashiers a wad with at least a couple on the top that you have actually bought and tesco seems about the best.0
