Sorry I haven't replied again - been offline since sunday

I rang the helpline again and decided to go back to 1mb. Was told 48hrs and then last night they said it was not scheduled to be done until the 20th grrrr

Anyway, after twice saying they would ring back and not doing so, they have sorted it and all seems well today. :)

Heres hoping it was just the speed

    thanks all for your advice

Back on - got kicked off after last post and couldn't reconnect :(

Browntoa - We have tried a different splitter but haven't disconnected everything else - what difference might this make?

This morning I've found out that Virgin have no prob with ICS - I was wondering if that was the reason for it.

Coolagarry - The driver download will not complete - it lets us accept the licence and then says there is a problem and download cannot complete.

Donnie - restarting or even completely shutting down the computer makes no difference at all - it just seems to make its own mind up whether it will stop flashing and reconnect.

As another query - the man on the virgin helpline (and yes, it was the right number - not one from a phone box :D ) said the security setting for the speedtouch connection should be on typical. The computer keeps resetting it to advanced, however, which I assume is because of the ICS, but would this make a diff? He said that might be what the problem is?

Any other suggestions would be very gratefully received before I ring again - 25p a min - to be told another load of cobblers.

    Thanks
    Helen

Sorry. I forgot about this thread.
No need to pay 25p per min. You can use 0845 045 1118 for broadband support.

I've had the same problem with the Alcatel Speedtouch 330 USB ever since I upgraded to 2MB with another ISP.
But it isn't so often that it bothers me unduly. So I've left it. I just reboot and reconnect.

I may look for updated drivers and download Dr Speedtouch and tweak the settings to see if that eliminates the problem.
  • Thanks Donnie
