Just suddenly had a nightmare image of a cost cutting decision by RM management to employ scouts instead.
I bet you wouldn't put it past your bosses either would you?

lol ,almost as bad as the time when they told us no new uniform for anyone(money saving)
so i had shirts with big holes where i hold the mail bundle
ripped trousers and had to wear trainers

just today we were told a minimum of 7 duties foot duties plus at least 1 van duty were being 'absorbed'
eg they are going and you will have to deal with it

in the office just now we have no rubber bands, red cards or condemn stickers

I'm guessing a lot of them have a lot more of their own sorting to do than they've ever had to do before.

um have you missed the news over the last year or so?
posties start later, start later then you finish later
more part time posties,no full time posties being employed
this means less posties available to sort the mail so it takes longer to sort
if you have ever seen images of a delivery office you will see big rows of 'frames' for sorting
when i started it would be chocca with posties banging elbows, now you can have as few as 5 vs 25+ before
i used to be on my delivery before 8am,now its nearer 10am

i do enjoy someone telling me almost daily that im 'late' today

My old man is a postie, with all the changes the mail bags don't get to the delivery offices as early now, so some days it will be almost noon before some rounds are sorted.

He's not impressed with the sarcastic comments he gets on the round about the time. Please have some consideration that the delivery staff are only doing their job!

Now some of the rounds have been combined it might be 5:30pm when he's doing his last deliveries
 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

well rm are a little gaurded on profits
they use things like the pensions deficit as a whipping boy for profit loss
however this deficit is from when they took a pensios holiday

i read recently that both france and italys postal services have made good profits reported and mail volumes are up

all we are told is mail volumes down, theres no money/profit etc etc
whilst the mail rm gets directly is down the weight we are carrying up with down stream access and a massive rise in packets trafic
