    I wasn't ranting at all.

I have offered constructive words to Jen before and watched many others do the same!

Sometimes, when somone is clearly in a cycle of misery and perceived helplessness, it is better to point the realities out, don't you think?

There are plenty of actions the OP can take but for some reason, she is resistant to taking them. It is not helpful to feed into that kind of thinking. Sure, we all do it to start with, but if it isn't working, I care enough to try a different route, personally.

The OP has a mental illness. None of us are qualified to advise them to 'take some decisive action and start making some changes in your life'. Even if we were MH professionals, we could not give that advice without knowing a lot more about the patient.

For all you know the OP could be suicidal (I certainly hope she isn't), and making flippant comments like that could easily push somebody over the edge.

Think about how you would feel if some stranger was ranting at your daughter or another loved one like that, and please, back off.

Jen, if you want some support with your depression, the Depression Support Thread is a great group of people, who will help and listen without judgment! ;) x

Exactly why I have urged her on this, and other threads, to seek proper help and support.

Being on here and posting the same stuff over and over, while slowly sinking into a worse situation is not going to help.

I feel she is struggling too and I'm worried about her (I have said so many times), but she needs help beyond what we can offer on here and only she can access that help!

She also needs to sort out an income - it won't come to her! That is the kind if decisive action I was talking about. Once she has an income, she will have one less worry, and can start to look at other areas of her life.

Good point about the depression thread.

It depends what you call helpful though.

I will leave it now though, as us arguing is definitely not going to help.

    hello,

I had no idea feelings were running so high, I just wanted some advise about applying for benefits....

Mitchaa - Depression can definitely stop you working. It takes the ability to think, to problem solve, to stay calm in the face of any pressure or to remember anything. I suffer with the panics as well, there is no warning when its gonna start, it terrifies me as I just cant control it.

I was completely helpless last year for a number of months and I rarely left the house and didnt eat or do much except sleep and watch tv. I was often there but not. I somehow managed to maintain living in a shared flat with people who thought I was a bit of a "hermit" and slept a lot without any of them every concluding there was something wrong though- not sure if I was a good actor or they were just too wrapped up in themselves. My public face is excellent though - no-one has any idea at the moment except 1-2 friends, it is very tiring having to do it every day. I know I could never go through iit all again to that extent so I am trying to address it now.

A job - I would love a job tbh as it would get me out the house and give me some money to spend but every job I have had recently seems to induce stress on me which makes me worse than ever. It seems that this past year employers have become even more strict on productivity, the call centre was never happy with how much I did and they were constantly pushing me to increase sales, be faster and god forbid if there was a complaint ... I had 10 minutes per shift for the loo and I had to ask to use them! In my last before that I had to sit next to my boss and if I so much as glanced away from the task I was on she jumped on me and mistakes were just not acceptable even though it was a really taxing checking numbers against other numbers list job. It just seems for minimum wage they want more and more and more work...

7 day weekend - I am so sorry for you, it must be very frustrating for you to have to watch that. Its so true about the public face - i forget now its not actually true because its so automatic.
