Shame I couldn't build my own laptop really :o

I'm really fed up of being told stupid storie by Dell's sales agents. Now they claim that the price has gone up naturally and to reflect that they have introduced a free printer.
    That, is an excellent question...

Ha! That printer's been around for ages.

I need to buy a laptop sometime soon, but as I'm not in a hurry I'm waiting till January, as I figure Dell's January Sale will be slightly better than all their other never-ending sales and special offers. Or, if I spot a better offer on here...

    I can't wait till January :(

I guess this is the problem. I waited too long and now I have to get anything that'll do  :o

Mesh may be good but they are quite expensive. Especially as I need that widescreen for ease of viewing. I hate narrow screens :o
    That, is an excellent question...

Seems a little dear for the price and no media means no SP2 disk its pre-installed
on the Hard Drive mind you these can be piscked up from PC world or any other reputable PC shop for nothing.

Okay Okay I know reputable and PCWorld shouldn't be in the same sentence.

I think that seems 'ok' value- is it a Dell? If so what model?

Also the 'no media' means you dont get xp disc supplied for backup-you'll burn a backup from your hard drive.

  • I dont know if you have been here - it is a forum dedicated to the dell outlet. If you are in no immediate hurry for your laptop just post what spec you are after and the model along with your budget. Then the guys on there will help you out to get a good valued machine.

This only works if you are at your comp quite lot- then once someone has found a suitable machine- you will need to take it off their hands.

As for the outlet, most of the machines sold are just returns from company's who have over ordered.

ps. it's quite normal not to get the xp backup media-if you really want it you could probly 'blag' it out of dell.

pps. don't worry bout the thanks button;)
