I would prefer things half price.I find that BOGOFs like everyone has already said are usually on stuff I don't use.Usually highly processed stuff. If they would just drop the prices instead and allow us to choose instead of dictating what is a good buy then it would probably be better. For me anyway, can't speak for anone else.

If the BOGOFs do end I don't think the supermarkets will reduce the goods by 50%. I hope I'm proved wrong.

I dunno... If I had four kids, I think I'd want the whisky over the weetabix....
    .

Double whammy suggestion; pour the whisky over the weetabix in the morning. Sets you up for the day!:j

(Dont give the kids any though..............that would be a waste).
:o Keep trying.........................what else is there to do? :o

And here I do recognise they are only on junk food, so am not tempted.

I generally have to use sainsburys as it is all that is local to me. The only BOGOF I have seen in a year on healthy foods was BOGOF on broccoli and new potatoes. Generally it is all household items or complete junk on BOGOF. I personaly think that is disgusting, almost encourage the buying of junk.

I usual spend alot of my food bill, I sat there last week and did a tesco order online. Then (must have been bored lol) substituted each 'healthy meal' for a 'junk meal'. My food bill almost halved.

Maybe BOGOF stopping is a good thing? Good for the small farmers forced to loose on the tiny profit they make, good for obesity and easier for individuals or 2 person households?

Anyway, I'm sure the price is hiked up before BOGOF's!

Personally, I believe an issue here is the fact that no one really cooks anymore. Home cooked food is cheaper and healthier than convenience foods. I know we all have busy lifestyles but a big batch cook on one weekend each month is a really economical way to prepare food. If you time it right at end of day with supermarkets, its possible to pick up some great deals.

Give it a go. Let the kids get involved. dont be embarrassed folks to ask for cooking tips.

    Anyone used Carotino oil yet?

IF not give it a try. It is great for cooking as an olive oil substitute and much healthier for you than any hard fats.

Its a bit of a weird colour so maybe not for salads but its cheap, tastes fine, and lasts a long time.

    Try it.

I personally love BOGOFs. I have not paid the full price for bleach/soap powder/dishwasher powder/fabric conditioner or any toiletries for about 5 years. I only buy certain brands and stock up when they are on BOGOF:T

    @calleyw

The treatment of suppliers is a dodgy issue.

Action Aid has got some stuff on their website on this on the real cost of your bananas .

Try borrowing your book from your library though - save some cash.

There's another article on who pays as well

After reading this it kind of puts me off bogofs. Understand when there's five or six in the house hold though.

Not On The Label by Felicity Lawrence is a good one as well should be available at the library too. Not seen it at the supermarkets though Heh Heh.

Time to get an allotment I think.

Thanks for the tip on he book BTW I'll get down to the library tomorrow.

yes I like bogof's and don't agree that they are all on junk food.

I can stock up on toiletries, tins of tomatoes, cooking sauce jars, stock cubes and other items I use regularly. You just have to be selective in what you buy. Shopping on line makes spotting the bogofs you will use anyway more prominent.

Ill miss them if they go.

Bogof is ok for store items like tinned or frozen food, or washing powder etc. It's not such a bargain if I buy 2 cabbages on bogof but end up throwing the second away because my lot don't fancy having cabbage twice in one week. Much better to get one for half price but with the option to buy two if you know you'll use it.
