Broadband Almost Stopped

So, I'm talking to BT (on hold at the moment) and after over an hour they have come to the ground-shaking conclusion that I may have a fault on the line. Initially he tried to tell me that the line checked out fine;
Now am I reading this wrong, or am I getting a whole 108 kbps? This, I was told, is acceptable. I, needless to say, disagreed and stuck to my guns so they did a line test with poor results. If I hadn't kept on at him (an Indian gentleman who is probably reading this as I type as I'm still on remote assist) I would be no further ahead. Very annoying!Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:
-provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 5696 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 108 kbps
Edit; Can someone tell me what a 52 ms ping is (as read on speedtest.net speed test page)?
Thanks

Your upload and download sync speeds seem good but your IP profile seems to be stuck at 135 kbps, thus limiting your achievable speed. Can you ask them to reset your IP profile?Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:

The ping time is the time to get a reply from the speed test sever in use. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

That's how I read it, but the 'assistant' told me this wasn't the case but couldn't explain any further, very frustrating. I'll see if they can reset my IP profile.
Thanks for your time espresso

Is your Sync steady and stable?
Are BT investigating a line fault or resetting the profile?
If its just a stuck profile and you can't get it reset I can put you in touch with someone may be able to help.0 -

So I've been onto BT like a rash and they've tried to fob me off at every turn. First they tell me my line is fine, then they say there's a fault and they'll send an engineer. I wait almost a week without shouting at anyone; no engineer. I shout at someone only to be informed my line is perfectly OK. How did you come to that conclusion ask I, having not seen an engineer? We can do it remotely I'm told; I know this I say because you remotely found out my line was at fault last week. Cut a (very) long story short they say my router is at fault. It isn't, but I've got them to send me one of thier Home Hubs (without cost to me, of course) to prove my set up works. It arrives tomorrow.
As I type my broadband has mysteriously come back to life at close to it's original speeds. I have not changed a thing; haven't turned any household goods off, same router, same set up, same drivers and firmware. I did question my profile speed.... so we'll see how we get on.
If you're interested I'll keep you posted....

Home Hub jobby pitched up today. Got it going with no discernible difference to my previous router. WEP security out of the box though, what's that all about? And what a carry-on changing it to WPA. Looks pretty though, says the wife!
Anyway, BB stable at about 4.5 Mbps downstream so we'll see if it keeps like that.
