I too had some Debenhams sale returns problems. There was nothing wrong with the product but I was not allowed to return it, however they did offer me an exchange.

So what I did is I accepted an exchange for another full priced item which was a couple of pounds more expensive than the original. I then took this item to another till in the shop and got a refund.

So if you're willing to queue twice you can get your refund ;)

The other thing about not giving refunds I noticed which I didn't think was strictly legal, they refuse to give refunds or exchanges between christmas and new year due to it being busy.

If it does not affect your statutory rights, they can refuse refunds/exchanges.

    HTH :)

    Radley 10% off

Guess I'll have to rearrange my diary, and hopefully the bag I want will have a discount.

Online purchasing is different - they have to give you a 'cool off' period legally, hence why the online policy is different to instore.

Good idea might be then to go and try stuff on this week, then buy it online when the deal's on...

Anyone know if Red Herring clothes are included??? Seen a dress for my friend's wedding...

My cousin has a wedding giftlist with Debenhams. Does anyone know if the prices on the giftlist will be reduced during the sale and will I be able to view the reductions online and purchase them through the giftlist?

  • In defence of Debenhams - I bought a coat online for my daughter, but it was too small. For various reasons it was at least 3 months before I sent it back but they refunded me no problem :T .

About the wedding giftlist - my niece also has a list with them, and it showed online when the items were reduced recently. I actually bought the items instore but they were at the reduced prices. Hope that helps.

Mr Gordon: Thats to stop idiots coming in on boxing day returning items!

Plus, stores have to be extra careful with things, you wouldnt believe how many items get tampared with just so they can be returned.
