10 million free reusable bags instore at Morrisons

Options
What's this about?

From Monday 18 May, supermarket big boy Morrisons is giving each customer a free bag for life when buying any product.

10 million of these freebies are available (which would usually cost around 5p each) but once that figure's been reached you'd either have to buy an alternative reusable bag, or have a standard thin plastic carrier (that is if you forget to take your own instore!).

How to get one

All Morrisons stores are taking part so just pick one up if you shop there. 10 million might sound like a lot of bags, but it's expected they'll run out within a week or two.

See if there's a Morrisons store near you.

today i was given 1 bag for my shopping, and nothing for the rest of my shopping.

after keep being told 1 bag per shop, i just told the cashier to void my shopping, as there was no way i could carry the rest home in my hands.

i just couldn't get through to her.

which resulted in the guy behind, who also had quite a bit of shopping, then asking would he only be given 1 carrier bag, and like me was told yes 1 free bag.

manager just happened to come past, when i was walking off,

result 2 carrier bags given for free,

they have over 10 million to give away, and if every store is like ours, where we must have 10,000, then i think at the beginning of the week they are being careful and only giving 1 away per customer, but towards the end of the week when they realise they still have loads to shift, they will probably start handing them outlike confetti, and our store is giving one away at the moment, and if you need more bags for the shopping are giving the rest out in the normal bags, dont know why the store u visited is not doing the same thing, hth Dave

They say they are "for life" because, when they were introduced, supermarkets said that when it wears out if you bring it in they will replace it for a new one, so if you keep doing it for the rest of your life then it's well worth 10p. I have never tried it myself yet though.
