Tried to buy a Lego Star Wars PS2 game on Saturday.Whole display clearly marked £13. At the till I was told it was £20, but they could reduce it by £5, was that ok? I said no it was priced at £13, After some conflab, the manager told the assistant that they could refuse my custom, that was there right. What about mine? Said they didn't have a complaints process, have sent an email to Zavvi, and am awaiting a reply. Stunned at the 'customer service' I did not receive

You don't have a right to be a customer of any private company. The company is within their rights to decline to serve any person, for any reason whatsoever, provided that it is not on the basis of age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or race.
It is, however, distinctly bad practice to advertise a product at one price, but sell it at another. No, contrary to popular belief, if something is advertised at a certain price, the store is not obliged to sell it at that price. However, a store may be committing an offence if it is deliberately misleading customers into thinking that a product is available at a lower price than what it is.
So if, after refusing to sell the game to you at £13, they didn't remove the £13 price labels, Trading Standards would be very interested in this.

Hey do you think Trading standards would be VERY interested? Do you, really VERY interested.
I can just picture Trading standards getting VERY INTERESTED in a retail outlet placing an incorrect sticker on a computer game. Man, I bet Max Hastings along with Michael Mansfield would defend the retail shop whilst all the might of the Trading standards coupled with HRH commander in chief GW Bush's army will battle it out of THAT game with THAT sticker.
The UK population waits with baited breath.
No Im not being sarcastic.0 -

Goodness me, dangerous sports, what's got your goat? Bit of a snotty reply to a thread which you are not obliged to read or indeed post on.
Are you trying to provoke a reaction of some kind? Remeber forum etiquette - "please be kind to all moneysavers, even if you disagree, courtesy helps".Money Saved for a house deposit so far = July 2008 £3331.09, August £4396.40, September £5,048.37 (Target = £9,000 by July 2009) 56% there already!:j

You had the right to either accept or decline to purchase the item at the price they were offering it at.
They informed you of the correct price at the till before you bought it and also offered a discount, you could then make the choice - you declined.
As long as they inform you of the correct price before you purchase it they have done all they need to. Nothing to complain about.0 -
Richy Rich is correct.Curry's and Dixons in the past, have been taken to court by Trading Standards and fined; for example. As well as other companies(and supermarkets).0

vicky_kidder: just ignore dangeroussports - there's a commonly-held belief that they're a troll
And I'm using "they're" because I don't know whether dangeroussports is a man or woman, or else the MSE Grammar Police would be on me like a shot.0 -

When an item is on display advertised at a certain price, it is only an invitation to buy. The seller can decline to sell to you.0
