This is true as the contract does not occur until they tell you the price and you agree to pay, but to be fair it's pretty bad practice to advertise something at one price and sell it for another.
If it was done by mistake it is normally given as a gesture of goodwill to the customer at the price advertised to make sure they stay a happy and loyal customer. IMHO this lady had not done anything worthy of not being served by asking them to sell it to her at the advertised price.Money Saved for a house deposit so far = July 2008 £3331.09, August £4396.40, September £5,048.37 (Target = £9,000 by July 2009) 56% there already!:j
If I have helped you in any way, please thank me!0 -
Zavvi have the worst customer services ever - it seems to be company policy. Virgin were so much better - honestly.
I bought a £425 60GB PS3 from a Virgin store last year - Virgin stores then got sold and rebranded as Zavvi... then my PS3 developed a fault. I didn't want to go through Sony, as that takes more time and they only give customers refurbished replacements and not new ones, plus I didn't buy it from Sony, I bought it from them.
I took it back to the same store (boxed and in pristine condition) and Zavvi staff didn't want to know - the 2 staff (a young man and woman) laughed in my face and actually had the cheek to say that when I bought it they were Virgin but now they're Zavvi, so they don't have to do anything for me(!) . This almost made me choke to death as I knew this was total BS - they legally have to provide full customer support to the Virgin customers they inherited.
After confidently (and still poilitely) telling their own staff this - they then backed down and then looked at the receipt. They laughed even louder this time saying there was no way they were going to do anything for me as I had owned it for "more than 28 days". What brilliant customer support(!!!) They were also really rude and confrontational even though I was really polite to them. I have never had any shop refuse to sort out problems with electronics during the first 12 months after purchase - lol - you're better off buying your stuff secondhand or from EBay(!).
What a bunch of ******* - I asked to speak to the Manager but the young guy actually said HE was in charge and that his decision was final. After arguing with him (and the girl) and asking him to confirm that he was the proper manager - he finally admitted he was only 'acting manager' and that the main manager was upstairs.
I said I wasn't leaving until the proper Manager comes down to speak with me - The mouthy girl finally telephoned him (he was upstairs in some office seemingly too high up to deal with customers) - he said on the phone to her that they don't do anything for customers after 28 days (even though I had a receipt) and that he wouldn't be coming down and he didn't even speak to me on the phone - end of story. She kept saying to me that there was no way she would be giving me any replacement for my PS3 and during this whole time they were just ignoring me and serving other customers.
I then started a massive argument causing a scene infront of loads of other customers on purpose and demanded that he get the **** downstairs. A phone call later, he strolled down telling me what the company policy was and that there was nothing he could do - I confidently told him that I had already spoken with Trading Standards about this (which I actually had, as this was the second time I had been to a Zavvi store about this) and that I knew my rights very well. I told him that I have a contract of Sale with this store and 'not' with Sony who he tried to fob me off to and that unless he backed down and sorted this out, I would be taking things further. He changed almost instantaneously when he could see I meant business - he backed down immediately and apologised profusely. He handed me a brand new sealed boxed PS3 (the 2 young staff at the counter looked like their faces had been slapped by a wet fish)... They watched stone faced as I walked out... (their mouths were stuck open!!!)
Would never buy anything of any value from Zavvi... These jokers don't deserve to be in business... Bring back Richard Branson...0
