Chicken Thighs

Hi all. Been lurking here for a good long while but was hoping someone could advise.
I have a fab 6.5 litre slow cooker which I use often but would love to get even more use from it. I usually stick to brisket or ham dishes and masses of soups but bought a load of large chicken thighs earlier today and was wondering what I could do with them in the slow cooker? Never cooked them before but though it was a sensible impulse buy!
Cooking for myself and 3 kids and not sure how well liked they'll be as I tend to usually buy chicken breasts or a whole chicken. Suppose I'll soon find out
Last time I cooked chicken casserole in the slow cooker wasn't a huge success as it ended up rather dry (probably overcooked)
Any recipes, tips or ideas are appreciated.

Do them in a tomato based sauce or in curry. They'll be fine0

You will find that thighs in the SC won't dry out, while Chicken Breast will... and that's not nice at all!
I suggest making anything you normally make with Chicken like Curry, soup, casserole etc.
I slow cook with the skin on and the bone in. about half an hour before eating I will take it out and strip the meat and throw is back in. The skin will help keep it moist and the bone will add flavour to your food.
Just be careful when taking it out... it will fall to pieces and you don't want unsavoury bits in your food... I normally use a large spoon to support the whole thigh before removing.

Thanks for that! I was wondering what to do about the bones/skin and whether to try and remove them.
Think I'll try a chicken casserole type thing today! Hopefully if it's a success I can save some money by buying cheaper cuts of chicken! :T0 -

I love thighs (our butcher sells them ready boned) as thy have more flavour and are much cheaper than breast :j

Allowing him to charge more for something you could do at home in minutes and removing a great source of flavour. Not for me.:)0 -

Seeing as they're cheaper than the supermarket, we all win and I'm not complaining:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
I love cooking with bones in, as it enhances the depth of flavour for any meat that you use!!
At least I think so.
My butches does a value pack... and I get 'chicken portions' (leg and thigh) for pretty much pennies as I pay for the rest of the items in the box... I love them... I find 1 can last 2 meals... and the taste and flavour is absolutly lovely! We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. TBH I have never tried it skin off... I figured the fat would help.
Plus the cats love the treat of the skin and fat! As long as they stay on the floor... they can have itWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like.
