Pixmania - terrible service

I ordered a camera from Pixmania on Monday cos I am off on holiday tomorrow (Friday)and I wanted to take it with me. They had it marked as "In Stock" so I ordered it and chose and paid a premium for "Express Next Day delivery".
However it's Thursday today and they still have not despatched it - called them up yesterday and they cited "warehouse problems" and said that it would be depatched yesterday and I would get it today. Checked the site again today- and it still said "preparing order".
Phoned them up again - (BTW - kept on hold for 20 mins or so I soon realised that if I choose option1 to place an order the phone was picked up immediately).....So when I got through I asked why it had not been despatched as they had suggested yesterday....and they didn't know. When I explained my situation and that now that it was so close I was gonna have to cancel it - they told me that I was welcome to cancel...
I mean what kind of service is that???
So - I went away - managed to get the camera from DABS with guaranteed delivery for tomorrow morning by 12pm - and it has been despatched - and I am tracking it online. So I went back to Pixmania to cancel and now they are saying I can't cancel cos it has been despatched - yet the status on the website still says "Preparing Order".
What disgusting service.....my recommendation is steer well clear....

If they send you the camera you can send it back under consumer rights, distance selling act, all you loose will be the postage.0

Oh brilliant - i am in the process of spending £250 on a camera off them as they are by far the cheapest to take on holiday with us, if they are no good then i may have to pay a little etra and go elsewhere i suppose0

I've just ordered a camera from them today, will let you know what happens. Order tracking has changed from received order to order being processed, fingers crossed.
Should read yesterday, it's just gone midnight!!!!!Grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can and the wisdom to know it's me"0 -

No personal experience of Pixmania but several people in the company I work for have used them and have had no problems. I think you have just been very unlucky. It is for this reason that I continually use Amazon and 7dayshop ... they may not be the cheapest but at least they are reliable (or at least have been for me).
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
I used Pixmania following a problem with Amazon's unrealiable 'in stock' procedures (there's a thread on here somewhere way back about my experience with Amazon
)
Pixmania did send me the goods but I did pay for next day delivery and they didn't turn up on the day. When I phoned they cited 'warehouse problems' and promised they would arrive the following day and they would refund the amount I paid for next day delivery (courier service)
The MP3 player did arrive the following day. I phoned about a refund and was told I had to request via the 'ask a question' or whatever it is called on the web site. I did that and got a bog standard email back stating their delivery times! I phoned again and was told they could deal via phone and I was again promised a refund.
I never got it despite emails and phone calls. I've given up and they have lost me as a customer as I won't ever use them again due to them not fulfilling promises to refund.
If Gozmo's unlucky he wasn't the only oneI live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.0 -

Ordered 8th September (12.40pm)
Delivered 12th September (10.40am)
Paid for 24hr/48hr delivery by DHL, I tracked it throughout and was very impressed with the level of info.
Only problem I found was that DHL do not class Saturday as a working day (you have to pay extra for Saturday delivery and I do not remember seeing that on the Pixmania web site, however that might be that I just missed seeing it.
In my case Pixmania worked well and saved me quite a considerable amount of money. :j :jGrant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can and the wisdom to know it's me"0 -
Ordered a camera from them Tues 6th 2pm and was delivered 11am Friday.
This is only the second time I've used them but so far everything has gone well. Plus have saved money, as they were the cheapest price and used £10 off spend voucher I found to bring the price down even more.

Sounds like they are OK if the order goes through OK but not so good at dealing with it if anything goes wrong which still leaves me wary of using them again. If something goes wrong with my delivery I like to be sure someone will deal with it not leave me running around trying to get them to do so with no success. My order actually cost the same as elsewhere if you add in the costs of the 'when it turns up' next day delivery service I paid for (and it was weekday, not Saturday so they've no excuse there).
Glad someone saved money with them though!
Just realised I called gizzmo gozmo earlier for some bizarre reason.Sorry gizzmo

Don't you have to stump up for international delivery for returns under the DSR as they only accept returns to France or somewhere? Or have they stopped that now?
Or are they even covered under the DSR as it is a foreign transaction!
I bought a sony digicam off them a few years ago, it was a European model (I think all there stuff is) but because of the massive saving over the cheapest UK price I could find I gave it a go.
I had no problems with either the camera, their service or delivery, but I didn't look forward to the camera developing a fault under warranty. Luckily it didn't and is still going strong.
Cheers, Des.
PS, I used them before the ruling on section 75 coverage for international transactions.0 -
Urk, I will let you know about my service with them having ordered an mp3 player.0
