and you start finding unidentified undies in your washing pile...

Oh no don't:eek: they are good boys and will stay at home with there Mum and Dad and not play with dirty girls.....until the day that they each find a pretty girl, one who has saved herself for true love and they will both get married to each of these perfect women and live happily ever after.

    And then I woke up:rotfl:
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

Were you doing what I do sometimes? I pick old stuff on youtube and play along...it's great fun finding out what you can play!

I should really do it with headphones on but the kids are usually OK once they're asleep....
I have my bass going into my pedal with the headphones coming from that.. then the music playing through the laptop speakers. Was learning 'My Michelle' by guns n roses and I tend to try and figure it out by ear and only resorting to Tab if I get really stuck. Then practiced our covers songs before messing around trying to come up with new riff ideas. :)

I loathe tab...I've got some great books that I could refer to but I guess I'm at the point where I work out what key it's in and I can have a good go at it, playing along...I figure that anything I need tab for is not really my kind of music or I don't fancy/can't imagine playing it live either - certainly can't see me remembering it! Big Rush fan but Geddy Lee is way too good to get near copying - wouldn't want to.

Learnt Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen on Tab and it was one of our best live songs...messed it up live once and the song fell like a pack of cards - it's on a video too!

    What covers do you do?

Good thought there....should do a cupboard clearout..stick it all on the dining room table and take stock....not really a pleasure but it would help us know what's what....my guess is we've got 7 bags of flour of various sorts but I could be wrong...

They sound like hard work to play...not really my type of music - soft melodic basslines must be a rarity!

Is that your basic set for gigs?

I've talked again to our old drummer and a comeback is on the horizon but I made a deal with Mrs Bismarck that I'd not play until I'd got fit so I need to crack on with it...Bit concerned that I can't play for as long as I used to without aches and pains in my fingers...hope it's just lack of practice...

    Hey all
Just had a visit from MIL re. split with her son...all very emotional and made me wonder if Im making a huge mistake. God, I feel wretched now.

Dropped the kids off at the gym so OH could take them swimming and on the way home lost control of my car on a corner and nearly crashed. It was dead slippery (and I may have been going a bit too fast?!)

Anyway, feel like crawling back into bed and starting the day over...

We haven't got a setlist yet... that's just what we cover for practices etc. We had more but these are the ones we've kept on. They're not the easiest to play sometimes, especially Mr brownstone but they're great fun and I love playing them :) We might have the possibility of a 1/2 hr gig coming up but we've got to talk to the guy who's interested.. and at that point we'll have to sort out a set list. But ideally we want more of our own songs. But as they say you have to start somewhere :) Have never played a gig before so the sooner I get over the first gig nerves the better.

I don't practice regularly apart from for band stuff... tis my only downfall. I could be a lot better if I practiced regularly and actually had lessons, as I know nothing of music theory at the mo. I just play. lol

I definately think you should get playing again though :P
