They will be charging us for Air next…hang on a minute they already do that but just call it something different!
Yeah i mean it costs nothing to treat the water for consumption and supplying it to your property then taking the sewage away and treating thas as well0 -
I pay over £40.00 per month. Am in a two bed flat with OH. So sounds fair. I do not think however that the bill should go to her then she invoice you. You should either have your own bill from water co or she should have worked out with you at the start of the tenancy your contribution if you ask me.All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0

Will contact the landlady and get a copy of the bill so I can see whats what!!!
We just didn't think about the water bills when we moved in, I guess we just assumed that they would all be individual bills like "normal" rental properties. We have electricity in our names so can't see why water is different. Perhaps because its an old house and it would have meant a lot of work to get all the pipes changed and stuff.
We do have a "meter" of sorts, it looks like there is a main supply which then goes into 4 seperate "meters" and then off to each flat / house. Problem is I don't want to p*ss the landlady off by going to the water co and then she will get arsey and start thinking of ways to keep our deposit!!!

Ask yourself one question…why would a company give you the chance to save yourself money at their expense?deanos wrote:Yeah i mean it costs nothing to treat the water for consumption and supplying it to your property then taking the sewage away and treating thas as well
…That’s exactly what the Water company’s are doing by letting you switch to a meter for a trial period then if it works out more expensive they will let you go back to your previous payment system.
…..Why would ANY company shoot itself in the foot like this?
… Look to the bigger picture!0 -

What is the bigger picture?
The regulations on water meters are in force because the Water Boards are covered by legislation – not as a philanthropic gesture.
Whatever the merits of meters there is no doubt that they save some people many hundreds of pounds a year, over charges based on the defunct Rateable Value,0 -
Philanthropic gesture ….quite the contrary …water meters are in place to make money…maybe not at this very moment… but soon…just wait & see!

They are not in to make money it is very heavily regulated what the water co. can charge for your water, not like gas and electric they can charge what they like.0

It was worded a bit wrong , of course they are in it to make money but having a meter in fact looses the water companys money as most people are saving having them installed.
The fact is they cant charge what they like its heavily regulated, where gas and electric is not, and having a meter in fact looses the water companys money as most people are saving having them installed.0
