Best place to buy a nearly new Corsa or YARIS?

I have looked at Motorpoint and Autotrader. I want to spend around £8000 don't mind a little more or less if its a good deal. I have the cash in my bank ready from a 0% deal so I don't need to organise finance.

I have seen one on the Autotrader website being sold by a privater seller but how safe is this? Its a 1.2 16v SXi 3 dr and its done 2500 miles but how do I know its not got outstanding finance or not been in an accident etc?

Any help would be appreciated to help me get a the best/most safe deal, I don't know alot about cars so I like to do my research best I can.

I really don't mind if I get a 1.2 or a 1.4 and I would prefer the SXi model or the Design model.

Thanks
KM x

Edited to say I am now considering the Yaris 1.3 SR so has anyone got any opinions on them I would be grateful.

1.2 is a cam chain driven engine and doesn't need cambelt changes like the 1.4 every 40k.

The 1.2 produces 80bhp and the 1.4 90bhp so there's not much in it. The 1.2 is cheaper to buy, insure and maintain.

Thanks for that, this is exactly why I knew this site could help because I would not have known that. So may look at the 1.2 rather than bother with the 1.4 now.

    Thanks again

I bought my 07 corsa sxi 1.2 from here: http://www.motordepot.co.uk/ They are based in Hull and s!!!!horpe (i think) They had loads of corsa's in on the day I went.

It was back in September or october and I paid £8100. This was a decent price at the time IMOH. It had 13,000 miles on the clock.I posted on here and everyone said it was a lot of miles for a 6 month old car and it would be an ex hire etc etc. HOwever, I'm really chuffed with it! Its a little gem and it passed its first service with no problems! Hope this helps!

Its not printing scun thorpe.. but thats where I mean!!

BEWARE of the previous owner of Corsas, you will find many are ex courtesy car runabouts, for garages & bodyshops, as well as driving school vehicles!! So you do need to confirm who it belonged to.

An discrete sounding company name on the registration document might just be hiding something!

Network Q do have the best selection, although the once excellent warranty, isn't as good as it once was - but you'll still be within the Vauxhall 3 year cover, assuming servicing is correctly carried out, anyway.

But have you thought of auction? You could have 1.2SXi 57reg with 5000miles for under your budget. & you'd know it wasn't a 'dodgy' vehicle.

Also don't forget the Fiat Punto is virtually the same car.

    For less £$£$

If you buy second hand it's worth getting a full vehicle inspection from the AA or RAC. I did this after I bought my car, as I discovered that the previous owner ('just one owner') turned out to be a car rental company in central London. I'd asked if I could see the registration document when I test took it for a test drive but it was 'at the other branch but it'll be here when you collect the car'.

The AA charged a couple of hundred pounds but I got a very detailed report and a credit check too. They discovered the vehicle had been purchased initially overseas as well, which I hadn't known either. Thankfully, there was nothing major wrong and I was able to put right the small things and have peace of mind.

Next time I'll get a check before I buy - it was worth every penny. (I bought in a hurry as my previous car 'died' on me and I had a long trip planned later in the week. If that happens again I would rent a car for a week while I took my time.)

    Yo KM!

Out of interest, why a Corsa? 8k is alot of money. You could buy alot with that.

I work for a garage - we dont deal, apart from imports to be honest, but have picked up some tips and could shove you in a good direction!!

Not saying Corsa isn't an ok car but at that money - it opens up alot of choices for you. xx

PS Its the garage I blame for the skin - diesel etc. :o
