    Thanks, updated the list ;)
  • I was insured with "Auto Direct", I paid monthly by direct debit. My car insurance was going to expire in July but I sold my car in February. Altogether I had to pay £61 in cancellation fees which I was not expecting and I had already paid the February installment. Plus, The Telephone Assistant that I spoke to could not have been more unhelpful!

No offence but just because you were not aware of it does not make it bad. £61 is above the typical max for cancellation charges and the figure sounds more like outstanding premium due being included in there. That is not what this thread is about.

What will you have to pay us for our services?

In addition to premiums charged by the insurer, we will also apply the following fees, in order to cover administration costs:
Arranging your New Policy - £15
    Arranging your Renewal - £20
Amendments / Changes to your Policy - £25
    Duplicate Documentation - £10
    Unpaid Cheque / Direct Debit - £25
    Cancellation £45
    * reduced to £20 if you cancel within 14 days of receiving your initial policy documentation.

  • If you buy insurance through any of the following it is through BISL (Budget Insurance Services Limited) and I would imagine they all have the same amendment fees

    Yes
    HSBC
    M&S
    Ibuyeco
    Budget
    Post Office
    M&S
    Dial Direct
    Bradford and Bingley
    Auto Trader

There is no need to "imagine" the cancellation/amendment fees as they are being listed in the op. "Imagined" fees aren't much help when they actually differ!

And there are apparent differences amongst the companies you list.

At this stage I do need to imagine as only Budget and Post Office are listed in the OP

You reported that in your imagination you saw all of them having the same fees.

As your research will have now shown you, your imagination is just like everyone elses - and cannot be relied on!
